Description
Why should you read this book? There are battles of wit, adventure, and battle. Love interests. Friendship between old rivals and enemies from old friends. Give it a read, you might like it.
Political thriller meets action in a world of whimsy and fantasy and fairytale, as the fallen Lordling and Former Heirling of the Red Sword navigates through political intrigue and cutthroat battles, using his wits and what remains of his strength to survive the first day as a servant so he can win a Game, and regain everything lost: Rank, Position, and Power. Most importantly, can he regain his own freedom and escape the influence of the Murderous Red Lord and the Traitorous Senate?
What to expect:
Strong to weak, to very strong but different.
Word games.
Awesome battle scenes.
Slow romance.
Serious bromance.
Fantastical settings.
No harem (in the end).
Lordling Elswith, Heirling of the Red Sword, has lost everything.
His Position. His Power. His Place in the Seelie Courts. Enemies within his own Court and enemies outside of it have collided against him and replaced him with a stranger. Elswith had tried to play the game and lost.
But he did gain something else. Something new. He found his True Name, Daniel, and with it, an opportunity to be free from those above him, free from the restrictions of a Lordling of Fae and to be a Lord once and for all. He just has to win a Game. A Capital 'G' Game, with a Capital G.
Three rounds, but he has to survive his new position as a servant long enough to even make it to the beginning of the Game. And if he losses, it is not just his life at stake.
Can he survive his first day as Servant Branch?

- WrenRileyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0If this is only setting the stage of the story, I can't wait to read what comes next. Mysterious powers, law of fae, chaotic dread creatures to fight against, the rumblings of unrest, a suspicious Fae lord, (of the red sword) and the heirling/lordling walking the line of between duty and whats right. It has all the elements for a great story. It has descriptive and beautiful writing... I look forward to seeing where this story goes,
- EmpireofTrustRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This dip into fae culture is interesting and well written.
The story draws you in and has yet to info dump, relying on providing context as its needed as part of the tale, a serious plus in my mind.
The MC is fleshed out through his actions and thoughts as he plots out his survival using the laws that govern the Powers of his people.
The attention to detail is a plus as it's part of the premise of the story putting its hooks into your mind after a few chapters making the slightly surreal logic seem normal.
Looking forward to future chapters
