- LyceqRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Great world building that is definitely grim, a bit dark, but not Grim Dark (or Grim Derp). Give the first few chapters a go and I think you will be glad you did.
Although terrible things happen, this isn't a gore fest. It does read like a Hans Christian Anderson story. Some casual cruelty sprinkled in with wonderous things. - MirkatRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is well written. It is progressing well with the plot, the charaacters and the world building. I can't wait to learn more about the world and to see how the main mystery turns out. I hope our main character doesn't stay a child and grows into an adult though.
- TheScribeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Now this is interesting!
A dark (but not so dark as to be offputting) world, clear prose, interesting concept and characters. Definitely off to a good start from what I’ve read so far.
The story is redolent of a dark, original fairy tale, as others have commented, with a deliciously dubious, unusual cast of characters. From the mysterious foundation of amnesia and dislocation, our main character is slowly given life through his actions as he begins to piece together the world and how he arrived in it. I liked this choice to avoid more direct description, to let the reader feel what he is, and found it a deft way to increase connection to the plot and character as they develop. Still early days, but the challenges faced so far have been complex and interesting, treading a careful line of moral dubiousness without seeming excessive.
Stylistically, the writing is clear, well-written, and atmospheric, enhancing the world, story, and characters with hints and depth as the chapters progress. The introduction, in particular, I found particularly gripping; inhabiting the confusion and investigation of our MC as he started to piece together his surroundings was a neat way to create a sense of ambiguity and intrigue about this new setting. The progression elements are also sensitively integrated, which, for a newbie like me, is a big plus.
Nothing major to report on grammar.
Overall, a very intriguing start. Looking forward to seeing where it goes! - Worst-answerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I will keep myself short, it's a well written grimdark story with a possible future badass mc.
I genuinely hope you will get back to this author. it' has alot of potential

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa - Authors DreadRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is indeed some great work, a compelling web novel that takes readers on a journey into a world filled with magic, monsters, and a young boy's quest for survival and understanding. The author has done a commendable job of creating a unique and engaging story that keeps the reader hooked from the first chapter.
The story revolves around the protagonist, Obit, a young boy living in a village surrounded by a forest filled with monsters. The narrative is rich with great descriptions and a well-paced plot that gradually unfolds the mysteries of this world. The author's writing style is engaging, with a good balance of dialogue and narrative. I like the fight scenes. For example, in Chapter 5, "Clash of Titans," the description of the fight between the Old Mother and the wolf monster was well done.
The characters are well-developed, each with their unique strengths and weaknesses. Obit, is a brave character who is not afraid to face challenges. His interactions with the Old Mother, Refenial, and other characters are well-portrayed, showing his growth and development throughout the story. However, there are instances where the characters' motivations could be clearer.
The grammar and language used in the story are mostly accurate, with only a few minor errors. The author's use of language effectively conveys the dark and mysterious atmosphere of the story.
The correlation between the chapter titles and the context of the chapters is well-executed." The Hero of the Village," perfectly encapsulates Obit's role in the chapter as he bravely alerts the village of the impending monster attack and takes up the Old Mother's sword to protect his village.
One area that could be improved is the use of the system messages. While they add an interesting element to the story, their purpose and function could be explained more clearly to avoid confusion for the reader.
In conclusion, this story is captivating and with further development, might just become a masterpiece.
