Description

Harry, Ron, and Hermione were the ultimate trio. However, what if there was a fourth member. What if that fourth member was someone who fanatically read all the books and watched all the movies. Join Chris Kim now Argus Nidma as he goes through adventures with the trio and changing parts of the story.

(As you can tell, this is a Harry Potter fanfiction. For now, I'm just going to base this off the original 7 books, but that may change depending on what I decide to do. Well enjoy.)

    Pretty good I would say. The story for now is a rehash of the original, but I think the grammar is alright with the characters staying true to their colors (IMO). Grammar is nice. For now, the story is fine. Argus himself might be a bit ehh because of his obsession with Hermione, but I think it's understandable.

    Firstly, let me preface this with "There is nothing wrong with a retread in concept".
    1) This story is a retread of HP-canon so far (until Ch.19 at the point of this review). There is no two ways about it. The OC-main character "Argus Nidma" is the typical self-insert, that knows about the plot in advance. Herein however lies the crux of this story. Argus strictly adheres to canon-events no matter what for no reason whatsoever.
    -There is no reflection on his part on why he does this. Not even the cliche "I need to preserve canon because I could make it worse by interfering"-excuse.
    -Therefore he consciously and repeatedly enters scenarios that are exclusively of detriment to him and everybody around him. Situations that he could have easily avoided with his foreknowledge (in Ch. 18 for example he aknowledes leaving the Invisi-Cloak behind on purpose to get caught by McG, loose a ton of points and get detention.
    - Argus does not reflect on the situation he is in. Voldemort will ressurect in 4 years? MC apparently does not care. No plans for the horcruxes, no plans on how to safely disseminate intel to friendly parties. Letting his first-year friends enter deadly situations on purpose without stating a reason etc.
    ^^The above is by far this stories biggest detriment.
    2) The characters that belong in the HP-universe are competently written and would get four stars. The MC has an interesting backstory and good banter but is otherwise devoid of anything that makes a protagonist like e.g. purpose, thought & reason for even being in this story (two stars)
    3) Style tanks some points since the story-structure in itself is just a copypaste from JKR and so far the only creative writing is the MC's backstory and his relationship with Hermione.
    4) Grammar is pretty good but (and this is a nitpick, I admit) I got serious OCD when thoughs (rare as they where) had the same quotation-marks as speech. No italics or 'thought' instead of "thought". I tripped me up in the reading-flow m
