- SurvRoyal Road★★★ 2.5The core premise is exactly what you’d expect. Take Harry Potter and put him in the world of Star Wars although the execution leaves something to be desired. Harry’s soul seems to go inside Anakin’s body where they become one entity after some kind of discussion with “Fate”, a sentient entity that leaves a handy note telling him not to use magic. I think this is a mistake from the get go because this is Harry Potter as an adult in a child’s body. Why would adult Harry from the books listen to some nebulous entity and avoid casting any and all spells? He has no knowledge of how or why it could be dangerous and with his level of knowledge on magic you’d think he’d at least try some kind of illusion dispelling spell given the situation he’s found himself in instead of taking it at face value.
While it may change as the story goes on, it feels more like Harry (as the narrator continues to call him such, despite being Anakin Skywalker to everyone else) doesn’t use magic to any meaningful degree or to an extent that really changes the events of the prequels in a way the Force wouldn’t have been able to. There’s not much moment to moment dialogue or character interactions instead opting for a limited third person narration that passively describes most events that occur. If you’ve seen the prequels you’ve read the first few chapters of this story which isn’t really a good thing. Introducing Harry and his magic ability (and the elder wand which isn’t being utilized) should drastically alter events. As it stands Harry is, for some reason, just okay with going through Anakin’s day to day. If it’s because he now has a mom it’s only conveyed briefly about how it’s “kinda nice” to have a mom. Wouldn’t he be far more concerned with getting home to the people he cares about instead of pod racing???
I suppose if you are really into the world of Harry Potter and Star Wars you might find some enjoyment from the events of the story but as it stands having Harry’s soul be merged into A
