A court martialed special forces operator is given a deal to run security for government artifact recovery operations on a distant water world, the alternative being execution. The job is mundane at first, aside from his physical health declining due to the stress of multiple dives daily and experimental drugs used to prevent decompression sickness, he enjoys the relative calm between short spats with local Dolphinoid pirates and the occasional standoff with Akuly warriors until he's thrust back into the criminal underworld he travelled across the galaxy to escape from.
