- CrispcarcassRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0As I said at the time of this review this novel is on hiatus. I certainly like the way the story started and how the MC isn't some naive kid. It certainly is nice that the pokemon don't only have moves but 'abilities'. No clue if the Pokédex entries are a big part of this novel or are just as useless as they are in they games. Definitely worth the read even if it's short and has barely any chapters. While it hasn't followed any of the basic tropes, it is still a refreshing story and nice to see that it isn't just, 'pokemon only having the moves they learn in game'. It's also nice to see that the other characters aren't as naive or dense, as the
MC gets tricked by the professor into rambling on about the theory. It shows that anyone can just ramble on about a topic they are interested in without noticing they revealed a lot of information. I also noticed that the mc didn't just get op pokemon or powers, which is also a refresher as many novels on this site just give the Mc overpowered things without any thought. The author also included a 'league season' instead of just having trainers challenge the gyms whoever they want to, which is a simple but nice touch.
