- Rhok GehrigRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is going to be interesting. And I like that a culture is being built for us before a world. Yes the title is jarring, but its Royal Road so we can get over that. For the bit that is already up, I think it is worth the time. I certainly will be following.
- MaspheliciaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5So, a story about a reincarnated MC (so far so good), which is reincarnated as a... Giant ! This is cool, there is not enough stories about giants MC out there.
So I'm here writing a review (which is not something I'm used to -hopefuly it won't suck too bad-), because I really liked what's out there for this one so far.
Style :
I'm not a professional so I don't know how I'm supposed to review the "style". What I can say is that it's easy to read, not confusing in any way. The organisation of the dialogue/chapters and POV switch are great and let the story flow easily while giving a good view of the MC and her surroundings.
Story :
First things first -> although it is a reincarnation story, the reincarnation stuff (apart from the inate stuff for the MC -> race, specific perks, language and memories), is almost none existent in the first "book". There is no particular impact on the plot and even the MC's character, which should be influenced by her memories (values and ethics of her old world included).
I really liked the bond to nature the MC has. Like giants stories, I think there is not enough stories out there that feature a main character who has a bond to nature akin to a druid or a spirit. Nuff said that as a story which features both of those points, I immediatly got caught and couldn't stop binging the chapters. If that's your mojo, definetly give this one a shot, because it's worth it.
EDIT : I forgot one of the main point that I found refreshing about this story : There isn't too much worldbuilding. Don't get me wrong it's not "lacking" in worldbuilding, just that living in a remote area the MC only has a view about 2 cultures (giants/spirits). There is no all-knowing character and/or arc where the MC catch up to everything happening in the world, and thus we're not blasted with facts and trivia about the world she ended up in. This is cool, because most of the time, this type of exposition is a chore to read and you lose a lot of stuff that would've been g - adhding_nerdRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Ok, with the comedy tag, I was expecting a fun playful story of her romping around being a giant, getting into strange situations. No. Giant culture is about strength and rape. Literally every woman but the potion maker and the chief wife is in the "fun pit" where they get raped by the male Giants constantly. Not really my cup of tea, but if you like that stuff, give it a shot.
Also the God is an idiot who took the letter of the request rather than the spirit. I.e. made her objectively strong but not relatively. Which is kinda funny because in the first chapter, I thought, if anything, he was too nice, lol.
