- Tokage NoshipoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a very well written and interesting story that combines the classic styles of Chinese military history novels and a court intrigue romance plot. Not the typical fare for RR, but a popular style in Asian historical novels.
It’s a treat to read one translated by the author as few have ever been easily accessible in English. The author seems engaged and the story is deepening as it continues. I look forward to future chapters! - duanJTRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The writer seems to be very ambitious by interweaving Li Jing’s personal growth, a total world of Wuxia, wars and battles and traditional Chinese cultures etc. into the big historical background from SUI to Tang Dynasty.
After Jinyong who was the most famous Wuxia writer in Asia ceased to write, there was not anyone who tried to manage such a huge project, introducing so many lively figures in such a complicated world, at such a rapidly changing rhythm. Mysterious monks, skillful swordsman, imperial conspiracies. The beginning ten chapters have enrolled so much. It reminds me of Game of Thrones.
Besides, the writer seems to be very learned in Chinese history and culture, even though the wordings are made by a translated program, the extensive contents of the SUI and TANG Dynasty can still be seen very clearly, such as candles, food and clothes.
LI Jing was almost a perfect military figure in China, but the writer starts his life from a teenager, in a WUXIA style. Very interesting. From the chapters above, the little guy’s wisdom and superb judgement starts to show. And his ambiguous pursuit of love begins. For sure, he will turn to the battlefield, right? Can’t wait to read how little Li Jing grow to the legendary General.
