Description
On Hiatus until further notice (Working on Volume 2!)*It is only a few days before the Lebensfest is celebrated throughout all of Ebenerz and the city of Dampfstadt is already buzzing with activity. But a shadow of destruction looms over the coming celebration as a conspiracy has woven itself through the city. And soon the first stone was about to tumble, setting in motion the events that will cut through the veil of long lost secrets.
Pulled into the upcoming storm, Jak finds his life turned on its head as he finds himself unwittingly drawn to the centre of it all. He had just wanted to visit the Lebensfest with his little sister!
Follow the chaos of Dampfstadt... and what lays beyond.
Volume 1 Expectations:POV changes in and between chapters (lots of character besides Jak are important)Lots of character interactions (wholesome stuff and more!)Slow world building...plus more!
*Volume 2 will be much more fleshed out with longer chapters than Vol.1, as such it will take a while before I start posting. Since I want to ensure a better flow of events, easier to follow POVs and better descriptions, expect new chapters near the end of the year at the earliest when I should have built up a respectable backlog.
Thank you to everyone who has been following my story so far! I promise that I will do my best while writing Volume 2!
I will be working on Chaos Convention and a potential third story in the meanwhile. CC has an easier plot and world to write than GG, something that I believe should be the case with the third story as well, which means both won't take attention away from writing GG.
Also available to read onSBandSV.

- C.H. MouserRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story so far was a well thought out Story of a kid from the Slums. I think the Author does very well at Character interactions and I enjoyed how everything was tying together. Jak was portrayed nicely and I see a lot of potential with the character. It's a good read for someone looking for story driven fantasy.
Style: I feel the authors style was well developed and thought they really shined when it came to character interactions. I think some of it could have been portrayed a little smoother but was well done overall.
Story: I think the story was great and the setting was actually breathtaking once you really immerse yourself in the City's beauty. It was a little much to take in at first but the Author did well at touching the finer points when needed.
Grammar: I'm not a grammar warrior but as a reader I can say that not once did grammar or punctuation cause me to miss a beat. I think the Authors skill really shined here and dialogue was seamless.
Character: For me this is where the story really shines. The way Jak looked after his sister and interactions with his peers really showed this street kid that had heart. I'm a sucker for stories like these and I felt it was well played. - Prithak PoudyalRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This fiction can be summed up in one word: "Wholesome."
Every appearance of Jenny with her playful antics never fails to bring a smile to my face. The author's skill in crafting and portraying each character is evident from the very first chapter.
Set in a world populated by talking animals, this story is brimming with super cute and heartwarming moments. It stands out from the common tropes of the genre, making it a worthwhile read, especially for those seeking endearing characters.
While likening it to "Winnie-the-Pooh but better" captures some of its charm, it hardly does justice to the intricate plots and subtle foreshadowing that hint at a richly developed world and an exciting power system teeming with action.
At the center of it all is Jak, an adorable Wolf Cat who fled from his tormentors in the foster home he once lived in. As I delved deeper into the chapters, I found myself pondering how such a small and playful creature could wield such significance in shaping the world around him. That in itself was a great hook. I can't wait to see which direction the author will take this tale in.
With each progression of the story, Jak becomes more endearing as we witness his struggles and growth—from his life on the run to his misguided attempts at bartering. The dynamic between Jak and Jenny is masterfully written, adding depth and warmth to the narrative.
Let me get into the Review now:
Story:
The plot has been captivating thus far, focusing primarily on Jenny and Jak through Chapter 4. It skillfully delves into Jak's current lifestyle and offers glimpses into his experiences within the foster home.
Along the way, there are subtle hints and foreshadowing of significant events to come, as well as insights into the power systems at play in this world. The worldbuilding is executed in a compelling and understated manner, avoiding overwhelming the reader with excessive detail. Overall, it's been a flawless 5/5 experience up to this point.

The author's wri - AKArmbrustRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5In terms of Style, I find everything to be concise and clear. Descriptions are quite vivid and the narrative establishes the setting and environment that the story takes place in well. There's some German idioms and slang that provide some flavor to dialogue too.
The Story has a kind of fairy tale vibe to it that I like. The narrative is full of German cultural influences, and the author does seem quite knowledgeable about that. I would say that the pacing of the story comes off a little casual early on. The layering of magic and mundanity is certainly unique.
Grammatically, the only thing I would suggest would be to separate dialogue out from other bits of narration. This isn't a major hang-up though, and I haven't yet found any grammatical issues that detract from the story as a whole. Spelling, tense, and sentence structure are all pretty well-done.
And lastly, Character-wise, everyone has easy to remember and easily recognizable fantasy names. Like those you could see in a novel. In terms of personality and description they could perhaps be better defined early on, but overall there's a varied cast doing interesting things.
It's definitely a story I'm interested in following further. - Mani FisherRoyal Road★★★★ 3.57/10
First: I am not a furry person. I don't like furry stories, I don't like anthropomorphized animals, and I really hate when species cross-date. It bugs an autistic part of my brain. I have done my best to adapt, but I am flawed.
I loved the setting. The idea of a mostly vertical steampunk society was awesome. Would love to see concept art. I love the brother-sister central theme and how wholesome it is.
Overall, the author has a big idea with nice, down-to-earth stakes and a precious little sister that could be at risk. But it is written without enough multi-pov experience. This is commonly manifested by throwing half a dozen POV characters in a story and expect the reader to keep up. Even with 'unique visual designs' in a nonvisual medium.
The author does do adequate scene descriptions, but I still found myself lost in transitions. This is something I have trouble with myself, and so I know that it needs to be improved. Most of the time the dialogue is ok, but there is way too little narration for me. Could just be a me thing though, I do miss things.
I advise the author to spend some time writing 1st person for a bit. Still, I enjoyed most of the concepts and the author has a decent grasp of physical expressions of emotional states. The pacing was ok, the author had good taste, and he did have some pretty good paragraphs.
Style: As I said earlier he had a lot of trouble with his multiple perspectives and communicating that clearly. There's a bit too little narrative voice as well
Story: No idea what the bigger plot is. This would normally get lower scores, but I love the setting too much. Also, why the heck was dating suddenly the plot?
Grammar: Nothing egregious, passable. Didn't overcomplicate his sentences.
Character score: With the sheer number of characters that flew by with very little to distinguish or emphasize besides some combination of 'cat' and another animal, this should be a lot lower. But I adore wholesome brother-sister dynamics and the mere pr
