Description

Oakleaf Gilderwood is the world's greatest master of healing magic, on a planet dominated by constant military conflict. Centuries old, the Emerald Wizard Patriarch has spent his life collecting medicinal and magical plants from around the world, and cultivating them in his masterwork, the Gardens of Taubra, on the slopes of Mt. Issabella. However, the forces of Chaos have determined to destroy these gardens, by striking deep into the heartlands of the Empire of Theodor.

Sir Gilderwood, and the Order of Wizardry he represents, have chosen to summon a learned champion from a parallel Earth, to counter the Chaotic invasion. Plucked unaware from his life in present day England, James Blair finds himself in a world more resembling the table top battle games he plays, than the United Kingdom homeland he is familiar with. Separated from friends, family, and any of the conventions of his everyday life, James must survive the conflict he finds himself a part of, and then somehow find a way back to his former life in Scotland.

Expect action, plot twists, humor and unconventional problem solving, in a medieval world  more focused on magic than technology. This world is a dangerous place with Chaos ever-present, and hiding in unexpected places.

Gilderwood makes for an exciting isekai, it starts a bit slow but shows great promise and has an interesting main character with depth. The setting is dark low fantasy, which is appealing. It all reminds me a bit of a fantasy version of Crusade in Jeans, which I liked as a kid. Well done!

Love the drama and intrigue...can the suspense built even more?!  The storyline and underlying chaos reminds of a remote island somewhere near the Pacific Ocean.   A beautiful bonus are the amazing graphics posted as notes...well done!  I can hardly wait for the next chapters but at the same time don't want it to end!
