My husband has been trying to explain the premise of cultivation novels to me for at least the last year and a half, but I Just. Never. Got. It.
    I get it now.
A very approachable cultivation fiction, Ghost of the Truthseeker uses LitRPG as a framing device which has, in my mind, cemented this as a perfect gateway for those of us who don't normally read within the genre. This was a brilliant move by this first time author, bravo.
The style is perfectly balanced with just the right combination of description and action. Even the most heavy info dump bits are a breeze to read through and understand. Elements that would normally get on my nerves (particularly heavy stat referencing) are a complete nonissue, as they are approached in a way that serves the narrative well.
Grammar is clean, very few mistakes. Have caught a handful of minor inconsistencies caused by hasty copy/pasting. I suspect these issues will become even fewer and far between if the author is able to get on top of their rising popularity and create a backlog. I've admittedly had to Google a word here and there, but I'm not even mad about it.
I'm fascinated by how realistically this one is written for something using the fantasy tag. The situations are believable and the dialogue is snappy and natural-feeling. All fighting situations have been handled with care; they're fast paced and visceral without becoming needlessly graphic. Just the right touches in all the right places.
While most characters have only been introduced at the surface level, Alistair is a standout MC. He has a strong will and, even in moments of uncertainty, his motives are clear. Definitely a good-guy type, but not annoyingly so. Other developing characters are looking promising, as well. It will be interesting to uncover the motivations of these secondary characters and possible antagonists over time.
Overall, if you never read another cultivator type novel in your life, read this one. Ghost of the Truthseeker makes early promises

I like the premise so far, especially the setting with the college students. Its rare for these types of novels to begin with the main character not being completely alone! One thought I have is that it is very similar to some other apocalyptic "systems" novels, but most of the books in the genre are similar to one another so I wouldnt sweat it. Otherwise, very nice!!

Bought both books on audible and have enjoyed the story. Really looking forward to more chapters on here considering audio books tend to take a while with the translation from text to speech and doing that well. Alistairs story has been a fun ride so far and I can’t wait for more.

Ghost of the Truthseeker is a great addition to the cultivation subgenre of LitRPG. The story has the hallmarks of apocalypse system to it as it starts with a cultivator tearing the world asunder and murdering billions as modern earth is devastated and initiated into the majestic Final Frontier Empire.
The story is well-written and the characters are likable. The MC, Alistair, who starts off as an ordinary college student and grows into a powah house is a great protagonist and I enjoy reading about his journey.
The side characters are also goodly rounded, well-developed and add a lot to the story. The world-building is excellent. The author has created a well-developed cultivation system that is easy to understand and follow.
The story is fast-paced and action-packed.
The spelling and grammar is really good in this book. I didn't spot too many errors with my soviet eyes - only a bit of roughness here and there.
The style of the book is pretty good too. The mc is a great example of an overpowered isekai protagonist.
He's likable and has a great goals.
I enjoyed this tale of interest. It's unique and interesting. The world-building is complex and well-thought-out.
I would mainly recommend this book to anyone who likes LitRPG, cultivation, xianxia, or isekai stories. If you're into these tasty genres like I am, check this book out.

This book revolves around a cultivation system apocalypse -- a genre I know well and enjoy. This is shaping up to be a great addition to the subgenre.
Due to the actions of an arrogant young master (going to Earth to blow off steam by murdering a billion defenseless people, yikes), Earth is indoctrinated into the system ahead of schedule and given premium status as consolation for the unfortunate tragedy.
Chaos erupts. Some people are teleported far away, others remain in their original location. Hordes of orcs appear, fodder sent by the multiversal overlords to test and temper humanity. Our MC is one of the people not teleported, and he's located in Boston. He has a good head on his shoulders and adapts quickly, becoming one of the highest leveled people on earth along with his companion.
The MC is likeable and I like the main side character as well. The MC has a hero of justice sort of build. He questions the system and world and thinks critically about what he sees.
The writing is good, no big errors that I spotted. The prose is clean and has the right amount of description.
If the premise sounds good, definitely give it a try.
Update: recently finished book 1. It ended on a great note and I'm super excited for book 2. Idk why this fic has so many negative reviews but I've really enjoyed it. Definitely give it a chance if you're on the fence.

This is pretty epic, but within its gruesome prose
There’s an innocence to it, it’s not just horror shows
Despite the heavy death toll, and the violent action
Something in it draws an optimistic reaction
It’s dense and full of cultivation and system jargon
You’ll love it once you understand the kind of ride you’re on
The lead is pretty solid, but the setting is just great
The book has a much bigger scale than you’d anticipate

New reader to royalroad, i found this story and i have to say it is one of the best new cultivation stories. I have been reading cultivation, progression, and litrpg stories for a while and there isnt that much that stands out to me. With only 9 chapters as of writing thsi review, I like what Ghost of The Truuhseeker is doing. The start is standard in the genre, apocalypse setting and the arrival of the "System" (Dont sue me Tao Wong). But what we get in the proceeding chaptesr makes me continue readinbgh We are seeing the taste of a larger universe with big players which i rlly like and the MC being a fist fighter as well as someone who is trying to do the right thing is a departure from typical edgy and anti hero progression MC. Also, a lot of these stories have the MC alone for the firrst 50-100 chapters, but this author has some friends already. Its good to flesh out the cast early imo.
AS for the wrtiing we have decent style, noted a few grammatical errors but nothing eregious, the author makes less than most fictions i have read on this website and their writing is good.
I hope we keep getting the scheduled releases.

I like the LitRPG elements, hopefully the author continues and doesn't quit. Look forward to further chapters. The current path of the protaginist is interesting, with the Punching skills. Always nice to see a bare fists type of guy, isn't too common. The premise is not super unique but so far the execution is good. Hopefully we can see the story with hundreds of chapters, and I will reevaluate my review.

Wow, that start is rather intense! I suppose it is an appropriate introduction to the unforgiving existence that a typical Cultivation story tends to create. Might makes right, afterall.
TLDR: This is an action packed take on the Cultivation System Comes to Earth LitRPG story recipe. There are only a couple grammar issues, but nothing that breaks immersion. Give this a shot, I'm enjoying the ride so far.
Light spoilers may be found below, but I will not reference specific events.
I've read 14 chapters as of this review, and so far the main character is your typical good-guy with a need to prove himself to the world by punching things really hard in the face. Sometimes it is unnecessary, but he still feels the need to show that proof of how strong he is. It will be interesting to see how this trait drives him to progress against the trials a sadistic System will surely throw at him and those close to him.
As I said above, I'm enjoying the ride and will continue to read for what should be an incredibly long story. There seems to be a lot of content the Author has in mind for this yarn, and I'm looking forward to the journey.
