Getting Warhammerred [WH 40k Fanfic]

Description
In the forgotten annals of the Dark Age of Technology, a dormant bioweapon waits, its existence buried in the shadows of mankind's once-glorious past.
A sinister ritual, shrouded in darkness, now threatens to merge this enigmatic weapon with a soul plucked from a higher dimension and unleash Chaos upon the grimdark future of the 41st millennium.
But can it succeed? Or how soon will it go off the rails on the off chance that it does succeed?
The fate of this perilous venture hinges upon the awakening of the soul, reincarnated into an eldritch form, stranded upon a desolate world where the guiding light of the Astronomican no longer shines, surrounded by naught but the lifeless husk of the planet that stands as the memorial to all those that died to birth this being into existence.
What choices will it make when those who seek the bioweapon within its very being draw near? Will it fall prey to the myriads of predators stalking the stars or will those very same predators tremble in fear at the sight of this monster?
The future teeters on a knife's edge, awaiting the awakening of the unexpected.
At least that's what everyone else is thinking. Everyone who is not the long-dead soul of an average girl from 21st-century Earth obsessed with sci-fi as she had the dubious fortune of being yanked out of her boring afterlife and reincarnated into the body of the previously said bioweapon.
Follow along as she has to wrestle with both her body and soul while the dark undercurrents of the grimdark future threaten to drown this newborn Eldritch monster with a penchant for admiring herself in the mirror.
Extra Tags or something:
- The first bunch of chapters are rather rough around the edges. Might rewrite them sometime, but for now, the sub-arc dubbed 'wandering in the city' leaves some things to be desired.
-This is far from what I'd call a literary masterpiece, I'm trying to keep it from being fully wish fulfillment and power fantasy but balancing that and my MC not being a ragdoll for everyone in the setting is surprisingly challenging.
I do not own Warhammer, everything aside from my Original characters belongs to Games Workshop.

- TurdTurtleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Give it a read. This feels and reads like a “casual” or “light” version of the standard WH40k fanfictions. The plot is fun and the MC is just the right amount of overpowered to keep things interesting.
One super positive note - the characters all feel like real people. Granted there’s only been 2-ish side characters as of chapter 29, but they feel far more real than I would have expected. Really it makes interactions with the MC fun to read.
Only downside (aside from finding this while there’s so few chapters available) there are occasional grammar and spelling mistakes, but nothing too jarring and the sort of stuff one would expect from a freely shared novel. - RemBestGirlRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am sadly, a little too lazy to write an Advanced review, though nonetheless I will write one.
I love the story already, the characters feel grounded, and the Main Character doesn't feel too overpowered at the start of it all. The Writing style is pleasant to look at, and even while I really don't look out for grammar I was unable to find any missing dots, commas or miswritten words anywhere in the book.
If the story continues going at it's current pace then I'll totally stick around, if I manage to scrounge up some money I could even throw a subscription out for a hopefully soon-be patreon (Actually don't know the legal situation with that, though that doesn't have to be in the review).
Hope anyone that reads this has a great day :) - EiferRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I often find that fanfics of universes like WH40k end up being some kind of world redemption/destruction story where the MC is trying to either "defeat" evil or become one of the big bads.
So far this seems like a more laid back self-interest read where the MC just want to live, experience stuff and have fun while trying to balance her new nature.
It's not a overly complex story and can be enjoyed much like an action movie, but still provides room for theorycrafting.
I've been positively surprised by the quality of the writing, despite it ostensibly being a writing exercise. Maybe my standards have fallen after one too many badly written book, but at least it has proper sentence structure and grammar.
All in all, good read. - GenPowerEveryNightRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Just a good story. I love the WH40k universe, and this novel does a great job of adapting it into a comprehensible formula while keeping it interesting. The MC is especially interesting in this aspect, as they are constantly evolving while maintaining their humanity , and using knowledge that they have from WH40k knowledge!
I love seeing the different aspects of the universe adapted and present as the chapters progress, and with the MC beginning to involve themselves in some major plot points, it's only going to get 'spicier' from here.
The constant struggle to get stronger, adapt biomass, maintain her humanity, and keep her growing relationships on hold as she evolves into something greater is an good cycle and keeps you involved throughout. The relationship she forms early on grows into something greater and leaves you smiling as she struggles with high-tier power while still having shaky and unsure emotions as any human might.
Well written! The story is entertaining, the character(s) are cool, the powers are extremely interesting and the explored concepts of the universe keep you entertained. Definitely a good read! Looking forward to further chapters. - KB04Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Disclaimer: I review based on vibes. (Also I only give the effort "review" my favorites)
This is probably my favorite novel or second favorite novel ever and all i can say is that this story just feels right.
Love the way characters come to terms with what the MC is and how the MC explores and tries to understand her own mind.
✅ Quality story
✅ Great Romance
✅ Steamy at times😳
✅ Story does not feel like a copy of others
✅ Intruiging power dynamics between lover/friend characters
✅ Immaculate Vibes
Thank you for this amazing story Author. - MaladexterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0There are a lot of 40k stories out there, many of whom fall for the cardinal sin of trying to turn the grimdark goth-punk world of Giger horror which is Warhammer into conventional scifi just in order to not have to portray a protagonist raised in that hellish narrative as a product of that narrative, simply because no one really wants to write long epics about xenophobic racist bent on religiously inspired genocides.
That's not this story. This is a story of a person from earth 2030 who finds herself in that grimdark universe-sized hellhole with just the right amount of cheats to be able to dodge most of the personal misery and despair the universal laws of 40k are so set on providing liberally unto every sapient, while still having to lay very low indeed lest she stumble onto the plots of powers that would still find it easy to erase what many of them would find an outright inconvenient existence.
It makes for a unique take where the protagonist gets to make her way through an immense galaxy lovingly described and detailed in a franchise still going strong worldwide after 36 years as someone with in-depth knowledge of said franchise...and with the abilities to treat most of this cabaret of gothic horror from the ringside seat of observer and tourist rather than as some unfortunate forced participant dropped right into the warp without a paddle.
I can heartily recommend this story for anyone with interest in 40k...or even just someone who loves dark tales set in a universe where every species, including humanity, makes the real historical monsters of humanity come off as trivial in comparison and hope died a hundred million years ago. - tomjel45Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a great book so far with an interesting plot well developed characters and lots of interesting possibilities that doesn’t take itself too seriously and has an author open to input on his discord, the MC is strong but isn’t beyond godlike opness yet with many avenues of exploration available,
- CestarianRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is a good fic, it has downsides, mainly that the protagonists growth is too rapid ( translation: she is op as balls, not the strongest in the galaxy or anything but pretty up there...) and the ungodly amounts of internal monologuing. Strip away the most meaningless and repetitive of said monolouging and this story's length would be less than half of what it is now.
But webfic authors dragging their feet with pacing is nothing new (really, read almost any other story on this site...) and well the same goes with not understanding why the good authors keep their protagonists from snowballing too fast in power. (Hint: it's called suspense, action is absolutely meaningless without it).
But the rest of it is good, there's a good story under those monologues and the romance is excellent (yes, there's a romance tag on this story, take note of that before you go whining about it in the comments...)
So if you want a dark and gritty (op mc or not, 40k is 40k) sci-fi fantasy with good (lesbian) romance, you are in the right place. If either of these sounds bad to you, run away.
Now for the author, if s/he want's to rectify the mistakes made writing this story...
The internal monologue thing happens to beginner authors, you write these things to justify the thought process of a character leading up to their decisions. You need to know these things, get in the heads of your characters, but the reader does not and indeed should not know those things, at least not in any sort of detail. The readers need only see the decisions made at the end of the process, not the reasons why. When it's important for the reader to know why, you do it by making the character explain it to another through casual conversation, and only partially, not in detail, just the key points.
This is really just "show, don't tell", the finally made decisions and their execution is the 'show' part, the 'tell' part is the internal monologue explaining why.
As for the opness, that's a lot simpler, you just li - ElanethRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Great Story, even if you don't know anything about WH40K. Why do you have to write 50 words? I a m t o l a z y t o d o t h a t. E v e n if y o u c a n d o t h a t.
- Sharp_Claw111Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5I do enjoy the unique experiance this brings to the warhammer 40k universe. A good level of power, interesting plot but not the greatest, some good characters, writing and Grammer is good, it might not be for you if you aren't already into warhammer.
Overall a good story but not one of the best I have read. 4.5/5
