- ChiruschkaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So, reading it, I was immediately transported to mangas and animes I read a long time ago. This novel is a great combination of The Tower of God, Death Parade, and looking at the system and how it is built, it reminds me heavily of something, but I can't put my finger on it.
However, the story is obviously fiction since the prologue makes it clear with this sentence after they put the game online: "Alright, let's gooo! Everything's in order—no errors." xD
Enough of the bullying since the story is good. It is very straightforward, and one can imagine where it is going. However, with most stories, this is the case, and I would never rate it in any way. Hence, I rate the execution, which is well done.
The world is clearly and fast explained.
The goals are established, and the possible love interests/enemies are brought immediately to the forefront. 5/5.
Characters are good, but some have overhyped reactions to the most mundane things, while others are immediately focused on the task at hand, even after a horrendous event.
I can actually see where this is coming from since the author is a game designer. Games follow a very specific storytelling narrative that is not at all built up like novels (there are exceptions), where the player, or in this case the MC, is needed to immediately go into action. This I can see here.
I would say 4.3/5 and round it up to 4.5/5. I think it can work well, but it gets frustrating for me if a character is literally only "angry and frustrated" because he died, even though he was characterized as an ambitious normie more or less.
Well, I will see since I will keep reading.
Oh yeah, Grammar and Style, 5/5. Everything flows, and I can read it just fine.
Overall 5/5.
I would honestly recommend it to everyone who wants some great popcorn novel. Nothing where one discusses existential questions and so on. Just balls to the walls stuff :) - FirstNexusRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style: The first person POV is very well used in a LitRPG style where the character learns about the system at the time time as the reader. It is also used well in this story and I've been able to connect to the MC incredibly well so far
Story: The story is a classic isekai LitRPG but this author has their own unique system and world building so far. I like the use of gems and am excited to see how they will be used in the future. I also like how even though our MC receives some powerful equipment from the beginning, it still takes time for him to learn to use it, which helps create a realistic narrative. The action is both descriptive and gripping and I like the way in which our character works through his emotions and doubts before jumping in
Grammar: I didn't catch anything really and I only really make note of it in the review if it's something egregious
Character: I really like the MC and his personality. At times, it can be strange how easily he is reacting to his new circumstances, but other times, like stated above, he has doubts insecurities and fears of a normal man from Earth. I also like how the author threw in the driver unexpectedly and want to see where that storyline goes as she's also in the tower
Overall, this story gets an east 5/5 as it's a fun read and sets up a good world and a fun narrative. If you like a classic LitRPG with a unique twist in the form of gems, check this out! - S.nufflesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I NEED THE SIX GEMS CALEXA
Style: is definitely further along in its development than a lot of writing on this website. It's clear, concise and plays around with metaphor and comparisons when it feels like it wants to. I just take half a star off because, as of now, I don't think it knows exactly where it wants to go. However, I do have hope the author can really pull through.
Grammar: is good. No complaints here, and the author seems to be really working on improving the writing as they go along. I can appreciate the effort.
Story: is good so far. A tower climbing isekai is something I can't say I've never seen before, but I can appreciate the unique aspects that the author has added through both story elements and the small hint of a hunter/hunted dynamic that I'm sure will blossom nicely as the story continues.
Character: is good. Usually these stories have a strong emphasis on a self-insert type character, so I'm not too mad that there's more of an emphasis on world and systems rather than character. However, I do take half a star off because I do feel like this story could benefit from it.
Overall: Please make Calexa say WE'VE WOKEN THE HIVE!!! - simleekRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0General:
An interesting take on an isekai, pitting isekai-kun and truck-kun's driver against each other in a LitRPG setting. I think if anyone's a fan of this type of story, it could be a fun read.
Grammar:
There are a few incorrect dialog tags and I found some thoughts that weren't differentiated from speech, but the author generally responded positively when I pointed them out. At the time of this review, some of the specific grammar suggestions weren't fixed. Like, ` "Hello?", I `
That may be because the author is planning on scanning through their fic to find all of the cases though. There are 26 chapters and I've read 8, so it may take a while.
Style:
There are some repeated words, but there are two more important reasons this is 3.5.
1. It's a LitRPG including levels, stats, inventories, etc., but those werent't in tables at the time this review was posted. This can make it hard to distinguish between RPG stats and story, and also doesn't look as good. Since a lot of people like to see the nice blue boxes in stories with LitRPG tags when they have them (like me), the fact that it's just text right now is actually a pretty big let down.
2. There needs to be more explanation for some actions. This one actually hurts the story, because it seems like characters make strange or self-contradictory decisions, but there are definitely reasons behind them. It's better to find out those reasons inside the story instead of in comments though.
Story:
I actually enjoyed the prologue for some reason, despite it being slice of life on Earth. Maybe it's because I was a programmer. Not sure.
There's an interesting setup too: the isekai'd and the isekaier have to fight each other for their souls at the whim of something evil. Also, despite having only read 10k, it seems like I've already encountered a place where the character grew. The only problem was that it wasn't properly explained, so rather than growth, it seemed self-contradictory. But I believe that's down to style, no
