Maybe it's because this is the first story of this genre that I'm reading, but I find the system fun and easy to follow, and I'm really excited to see more! I'm really excited to read about Dylan's journey and see if he can destroy the evil king! I have a soft spot for destroying monarchies. I also like that the orphanage lady is not a flat character, I was worried she'd just be a simple evil character.
The style is a little simple, but it works for the story. It's easy to read and understand, and doesn't get bogged down by metaphor or confusing narrative changes.
The grammar is good, though there are very very minor mistakes.
The story is compelling - who doesn't want to see an evil and genocidal king get his butt kicked? I'm hoping Dylan gets strong enough to defeat him, and maybe make some alliances or friends along the way!
Dylan is overconfident in the way that most 15 year olds are, and it's fun to see, but he's also still human, which I really appreciate. Overall, the characters so far are fun!

If I had to gripe about anything it would be about how the story seems to forget parts of itself such as when it said there was only one person with a large spirit and the introduced another character with a griffin. The hiatus is also a bit annoying but I'm assuming that has to do with the authors age what with school and all that.
