From Paladin to Demon Lord: Betrayed by the God of Light [Draft 1 Removed]

Description
All Ivan had ever wanted was to heal the sick, maybe travel the world, and make a home like he had growing up with his childhood friend and promised love Tanya. All that is stolen away as the God of Light, Theadus, receives a prophecy from a minor Deity who calls itself simply The Oracle, and turns his armies upon a fellow God of his own pantheon to prevent his own downfall as foretold by strange foreign Goddess. The story follows the tragedy of Ivan's life as he throws away morality and humanity to gain the power and magic needed to defeat the Hero of Light, and the long standing leaders of the God of Light's religion. After a great of time I am back and have decided in that time to rewrite this book. Thank you for the comments and encouragement. It's restored a lot of my will to write on work on these projects. Life has been busy...and painful. I'm glad to say I'm in a better place now.

- BabyjerboaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall I think that this is an engaging novel about revenge and the blood soaked path that it entails.
Style: I think for the most part the prose is sufficiently capable of conveying the plot and story in a fluid manner. However, many chapters are bloated and contain large chunks of overly descriptive, sometimes redundant information, that if removed would have zero impact on the reader experience.
Story: The story is the strongest part of this novel; it drags you along for a bloody, rage fueled ride that keeps you invested and wanting more. The world isn't fully fleshed out at the moment, but as the main character progresses, so does the readers understanding of the environment around him. The system is woven into the narrative perfectly, so as to not be intrusive, but also prevalent enough to convey progression and important information in relation to the events occurring.
Grammar: Mostly fine, some errors here and there but barely noticeable if at all.
Character: I like the characterization of the side characters for the most part, although I feel that some chapters dedicated to them were wholly unnecessary and could have been cut down significantly. My biggest issue however, is with the main character. Much of his anguish in the beginning and throughout the novel feels forced and artificial, if not extremely melodramatic. I understand showing his anger and anguish to establish his motivations, but it feels like every couple paragraphs this dude has a flashback or is just struck by intense sadness and anger. It cheapens the emotion and motivation when it's constantly expressed at the drop of a pin.
TLDR: It's a well written revenge story and I recommend you give it a try. - agnishwattsRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Beautifully written and structured world. A hidden gem
Sadly the story is heavily guided. the charades don't feel real sometimes. The fault can be pushed on the fate, but is that a cruch.
Overall, I Wana rate 5 stars, the plot holds me back
I'm sad the author hasn't finished the story.
It's a hidden gem, I crushed it in a day.
Pls come back. - SeinexRoyal Road★★ 2.0The characters are unrealistic. Completely, utterly unrealistic.
This will have tons of spoilers, be careful reading..
A thousand year old creature of evil (but not really evil) falls in love with a young but promising 18 year old who's personality has shifted, going from wholesome sweet manly paladin to murdering psycho, to I'm a deep and misunderstood man. Oh guess what, he had a sweetheart, someone he loved deeply, and yet now after she's gone he's starting a demonic fucking harem. Its like all the character growth is focused on making an edgy harem lord, because guess what? There is no actual dangerous conflict, he's so big and stronk and has super op demon, lady who wants him to bone her but doesn't bc she's too good for just any pleb (yet chooses the protag?? The fuck), but anyway, they sweep all obstacles and mystically avoid anyone powerful enough to challenge them, but yknow, plot armor, there is no one stronger or as determined as the protagonist, because the protagonist is the most special boy. Oh to top it all off, he manages to find a party who somehow accepts the murder hobo, but that's knly because he doesn't tell them he killed an innocent priestess. The quote from the demon said he killed a fucking innocent. How does that fit with paladin?? He wouldn't change that much. Drastic unrealistic change that happens too fast. Ps, mc has seals placed on his memory! So he has a fantastical mysterious past, ooo so interesting.
Like really? How much plot armor can you give a guy and also no, I don't think most people have the emotional attention of a mayfly. You didn't give him a proper grieving time before you decide to stick a female love interest in, like holy, could've let her blood dry before you find a new replacement. But no, author rushes it, makes the mc seem flighty or the depth of his emotions weak, brought down to a mere tool to resist again the demoness (but not really bc he caved super easily). Like hell, really few typos. Author doesn't know how
