- NemaphiusRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I love the way things are shaping up, at first the story and charecters where lacking alot, but things are getting better, I love the way the game mechanics are handled andam having alot of fun with it. The paceing of the story is quite fast though, it could of spent a chapter or two discussing what happend in the dungeun but it just says somthing like "I killed x amount of enemys and gained this." so it takes a bit of the suspense away, but overall a great read.
- luminariumRoyal Road★ 0.5Character:
The MC is the only character to be developed at all, and even that is incredibly shallow. I still don't know what kind of person the MC is, basically could have been swapped for any other character and nothing would be changed. The story is about an MC who returns from the heights of success with fore-knowledge, but none of that is actually shown in the story, he's not accomplishing feats through use of his fore-knowledge, meaning a core promise of the story premise is broken and unfulfilled. The fact that other characters aren't developed makes the world feel empty and un-alive. There's also a severe lack of dialogue or interaction between characters, which makes it also harder to care for or be invested in the world and it's inhabitants.
Story:
The story is one-beat, with a singular focus on fighting monsters, which gets monotonously boring after a while. Nothing feels earned, just feels like MC is getting OP powerups dropped into his lap for no good reason. There is no world building, so the world feels paper-thin, and thus I don't get the feeling of this being a real world at all, so the story does not feel immersive. Where is the economy, the politics, the culture?
Style:
The story runs way too much like a game (it even has damage numbers, not that they add anything to the story). The writing is uninspired - There is no humor, no wittiness, no aura of mystery, no intriguing plot.
Grammar:
I didn't see any spelling or grammatical issues that I could recall, so full score on this one.
