  The character stopped to talk to himself about his "bolo" and how it works before using it to cut grass. Literally explained to himself how a tool hes used a thousand (guessing) times before worked to himself. Does he do this for everything? Wakes up in the morning and gets coffee, "this is a mug, it holds hot liquids, but if it sits long enough they just get cold again" opens refrigerator "this makes things inside cold, but the light turns off when the door is closed". That level of exposition.
