Description
Announcement:Due to the comments left by Morphinne and Mocchi, I have removed the prologue.
In its place, there will be a batch of new initial chapters that will bridge into the existing ones, which I will post as soon as they're completed. Enjoy!
The removed prologue is posted on my Patreon page forfree.
I will begin polishing some of the first drafts I've written so far: mostly grammar, scene descriptions, arrangements and etc. I might delete some redundant scenes and provide extra elaborations in others, but the story will not be changed.
Polishing progress:None so far.
Release schedule:As soon as they're completed.
Synopsis:This story explores the scenario where the protagonists have family obligations.

(Imagine industrial revolution, but with mana, instead of fossil fuel.)- Explore an extensive power system as the MC grows and learns.
About the Ads:Each ad highlights a key concept or important scene from the story. Given the "Slow Burn" nature of the narrative, some of these scenes will unfold in later chapters. - LavenderhazeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story pulls you in right away with its immersive atmosphere, blending religious themes, family loyalty, and the constant threat of execution. The writing is vivid, making the tension in the prison setting feel real and pressing. Every scene is packed with emotion, making it easy to empathize with the characters’ struggles.
Adrian’s journey is both emotional and thought-provoking. Raised to see non-believers as demons, he’s forced to rely on one, creating an intense internal struggle. His father’s decisions add another layer of conflict, making him question whether their suffering is truly a divine test. Themes of survival, faith, and personal loyalty are woven seamlessly into the plot, ensuring that every action has both personal and philosophical consequences.
The presence of Bob, a former Knight Exemplar, brings an unexpected twist, while the demon’s calm, almost playful nature makes him a compelling contrast to Adrian’s turmoil. The story balances faith and survival in a way that feels authentic rather than forced. The tension never lets up, making it hard to put down.
With strong character development, high-stakes dilemmas, and a gripping plot, this story offers a unique perspective on faith and morality. It challenges readers to question beliefs, choices, and the price of survival. A must-read. - MorphinneRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I had to step back after chapter 26. The writing is solid and the world-building is fresh—there’s real talent here—but the way the so-called prologue is presented left me furious and misled.
For 21 chapters we’re told this is a prologue. At chapter 22 we get a “few days earlier” flashback of a side character, and by the end of that chapter we’re shoved further back—twenty years—learning the past of a figure called N, who saved the MC during the prologue. By the enf of chapter 26 I was intrigued, the flashback wsd getting really long and I wanted to know how long it would take to return to the original timeline.
That was when I saw the comment thread and the truth hit: the flashback is the main story. The characters we spent 21 chapters assuming were the MCs aren’t even in the story—the narrative is about the mysterious hero from the prologue. That twist doesn’t land as clever; it reads as a giant spoiler.
I appreciate ambition, but this structural choice destroyed my patience. I unfollowed and moved it to “read later” before it could wear me down further.
So—4 stars, strictly for the “Prologue” alone. I am treating it as a standalone fantasy short story. As a prologue, it fails.
If you’re confused by this review—trust me, so was I. And was not the only one. - MocchiRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0First and foremost, READ THE SYNOPSIS! LIKE, YOU REALLY NEED TO READ THE SYNOPSIS!
With this out of the way, like the title of the review says, this fiction has a lot of potential. One of the things that I liked the most in this fiction is the characters and their motives. There are a lot of things happening in the background that explain why certain characters do what they do, and it's pretty interesting to read.
The pacing is good, with a good dose of action and more relaxing moments. The author knows how to be entertaining while also incorporating moments of emotion and tranquility, almost in a slice-of-life style.
About some of the negatives in my experience reading, it needs a little more care in the grammar and formatting of the chapters; it could be better.
World-building is pretty average, in my opinion. It isn't good, but at the same time, it isn't atrocious like a lot of other fictions. It could work better with more descriptions, it helps the reader's imagination.
Now, my real pet peeve with this fiction is about the magic system (you'll see a lot of my comments about this), for me at least it isn't explained in a way easy to understand, at moments I felt a lot of confusion about how the magic works and the difference between powers, I think it could be polished and explained better to the reader, too be clear this is just my opinion, someone can think it's easy to understand.
My final consideration is that this is a good fiction with a lot of potential. In my opinion, it could be a 5/5 with more polish. You can see that the author has a lot of good ideas, but I think the implementation could be better. If you read this review till here, I would recommend you to read the fiction and draw your own conclusions, and for the love of god, READ THE SYNOPSIS!
