There is a serial killer on the loose, one with an eye for synthetics! When Jack Cutter and his adopted side kick Celia, a synthetic person, are called to the scene of a murder they don't know what to expect, what they find is mind boggling!
This novel so far is a class A Pulp noir with a new sci-fi twist. You feel it like any old dick tracey movie, gritty, dark and a underlaying moral question about the validity of artifical beings. If you like movies like China Town this one is for you!
Grammar? I didn't see anything wrong, but I am no expert. The readability is great, I didn't have to review any passage to comprehend the meaning. The wording was coherent and nothing really awkward stood out.
The Story Score, well for me it was interesting and familair, like an old friend visiting and going over stories from our youth. That said, I know the stories so it felt a little slow. This could easily pick up, heck it is still early!
Characterization is a serious strong point for this writer. Jack is exactly who we need him to be, the weathered cop who has seen it all, but still has a soft heart. Celia is every but the adolesent cyclon trying to find her way in the world with a child like innocence, but her small solid fists can do her talking if they need to. Side characters like Billy and Sally are authentic and well developed.
I am only reviewing sci-fi right now and this is right up my alley, but I admit it would be more so if it had a bit more action early on, of course not every story can be a Michael Bay Production.
Well done, I look forward to reading more of your work.
