Fly Me To The Silvery Moon

Superheroes are real, though very uncommon. Out of the billions of people in the world, less than 1% have powers. The governments scoop up anyone who does and trains them to fight for their country.

Now that's all well and good, but what about the 99+ percent without powers? The highs and lows of their lives that are so often glossed over in favor of their powered brethren?

Desmond and his family live out in the boonies of Florida in a run down hotel that never gets any visitors. Life is boring, but it's stable, and he's happy about that. His future is all laid out for him. He'll finish school and run the hotel after his parents die. It's not much, but it's honest work.

But like all parents, his dreamed of letting him have a better life. Using the inheritance from his grandfather, they decide to move to St. Pete. Desmond's world suddenly grows, everything is new and different, can he even handle it? Maybe he will, and maybe he'll become better for it.

(Between chapters there are diary entries of an unnamed person, at first it might not seem relevant but it eventually will be)
