Flowers Rain Upon Them (Tragic High Fantasy)

Description
Terus doesn't exist. He breathes, speaks, and walks. He learns. He thinks. Yet he is not.
Dreamed to life by a slumbering dragon, Terus and the rest of Cirruin's dreams inhabit Ludlun, a settlement that shares their nature. They exist solely for the old dragon to destroy the town and revive his glory days, again and again. Yet, one day, an unusual man arrives to the town, igniting Terus' desire to know more about the people that "move like pebbles rolling down a hillside", leading him to venture outside of the dream-town and into a city that couldn't be more real.
In this city, he will try to become a bit more like the man he is supposed to incarnate and less like the dragon that dreams about him. This, of course, without forgetting that he should always care not to turn Cirruin's dreams into nightmares, and that the dreams of a dragon's dream are a dragon's dream all the same...[This fiction participates in the Royal Road Writathon challenge of April, 2023]

- Avolyte339Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I won't write more than a few words. The first chapter compelled me to read the book, while the rest held me to ransom to finish the book.
I learned to appreciate this style of writing. We aren't pushed beyond the knowledge or misknowledge- if that is a word - of the Main character. It was what made me finish the book.
The title of the book is confusing to the closed mind but I sorted out the meaning at the middle of my reading. I also questioned the perpetual event that occurred at the epilogue.
FLOWER DID INDEED RAIN UPON THEM... - CivilizationRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story deserves more love, the author has delivered a passion project of art that brings a character to life without needing to take up a lot of time or space. The author nails the non-human perspective and portraying the very human want to be something more swimmingly. I was left wondering where the tragedy was going to hit and yet despite the warning the story just slams it into you, and then it is over and I was just left sitting there. Despite how that may sound it does not take away from the story at all, instead it adds to it, further helping develop the character until the last sentence. In the end I am glad that I somehow came across this story, my life is all the more enriched by it.
- Harmless SpiderRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Truly one of the best slice of life experiences. As someone who loves well written non-human leads, seeing the perspective of a living dream appreciating the minutiae in life made me very happy.
This is a tragedy, however, so know that it’s not happy forever. It wasn’t as tragic as I thought it would be, but that might just be because I saw the ending coming. Overall, a well paced interesting story. - KittyJinglesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It has a really dreamy vibe that made me think about existence and identity. The magical setting is a bit surreal, in fact the whole situation is interesting. Trying to imagine things from a dragon's perspective. Experiencing the wonder from a stranger to society encounter ing minutiae. It's a uniquely told story with wonderful descriptions of dragons to every day things made new and interesting just from the perspective it's told from
Very well done - NanotrexsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This book is awesome. I read this when I was looking for a new book to read and although it's unfortunate I'm pretty sure there are books I won't be able to read again since I'll be comparing them to this.
I had to use a dictionary for words I do not understand but it didn't come off as jarring as I'm some other books but instead let me calm down and go through what I have read.
Overall its a very good book that I believe both beginner readers and experienced readers will enjoy - TheGreenUrulokiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Beautiful story. I have never read anything else like this, and I always like new experiences when reading. I recommend listening to some sad or contemplative music while reading.
Highly recommend this one! Try not to cry.
Word limit RAAAH. But seriously, give this book a try, took me less than a day to finish and if you can read it in one sitting I recommend it. Makes everything hit just a little harder. - petercoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is beautiful
It may also make you cry. But it's worth it.
The style and grammar are good, if sometimes a little unconventional. The story takes its time, and there usually isn't much tension, but it never feels dragged out. The MC (who is not human, despite initial appearances) grows in personality, and you get to feel for him. - SmellsLikePurpleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have never read something so beautifully painful in my life. I absolutely love tragic books and this will forever sit at the top. Thank you very much for the work you put into this story. Please never write anything this tragic again. My heart cannot handle it.
Perfectly written, worth reading every word. - The Wild WitchRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So different form everything I ever read. A few times I was really wondering where it was going, but it made perfect sense in the end. Thanks so much for this story.
I think in one of my next RPG sessions I'll let the players stumble over a village of statues and find the drawings. - OutburstRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5It's truly an amazing story from start to end; it's hard to describe the emotions I feel at the conclusion of 'Flowers Rain Upon Them.' The way Lack of Poochline intricately weaves the characters' journeys amidst a rich, fantastical setting is nothing short of captivating. Each twist in the plot left me more entangled in its magic, as the story unfolded like a dream itself. It made me cry, smile, and feel a surge of excitement. While I am saddened by its end, I recognize that all good things must come to a close. I wholeheartedly recommend this book. It may not be the longest tale, but its beauty and depth are profound. I am surprised at how deeply I became attached to its world and characters. This story is not just a read; it's an experience that will linger in your dreams, just as it has in mine.
"we are reminded that even in the midst of life's most profound sorrows, there lies an ineffable beauty, a reminder that every end is but a delicate petal in the garden of our memories."
