Flipping Haunted Houses For Fun And Profit!
Community Rating
Description
Not everyone can afford a new house, made just for them. Some have to settle for pre-owned homes, and those usually have problems the formers owners have learned to live with but can come as a surprise. Bad smells, leaking pipes, haunting forces roaming its rooms…In the olden days, burning the house down handily solved all these problems, as the land was usually worth far more than the house. However, in the modern age, those that live in closely built bedroom communities, townhouses, dorms, condos, and apartments do not have that option! These stigmatized properties are either sold or rented for cheap—but with punishing early cancellation clauses—to ignorant schmucks, or have their property values drop like a rock as they become difficult to unload. That's what happened to our boy Loren, a Flame mage who just wants to be accepted into an internship so he can get the credits he needs to test for his Alchemical-Pharmacist license. Instead, he has to deal with the ghost haunting his new lease.Enter Happy Homes, a haunted house investment company! Buy cheap, exorcise, rent or sell at a profit! At least, that's the plan. They don't normally do this sort of thing 'Saturday night comedians opening an extermination business' kind of thing since it sort of keeps them from making that sweet, sweet profit, but his totally platonic childhood friend Harmony, a Magical Girl working for the company, has an idea...

- ArkhronRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This novel starts from a premise real: realtors and landowners are lying bastards and you shouldnt trust that lot.
But instead of a cockroach infestation or a noisy subway, the issue with the property is a ghost.
Not going to spoil anything else. The writing is very good, the worldbuilding is superb and the characterization is rounded and realistic.
Absolutely recommended. - Golden BrownRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Why did I give this 5 stars? It's an SCM story. The man does not make trash.
It's weird, it's clever, it's interesting, it's SEA as fuck, and it's unique. And it's assuredly better than whatever the hell else you're reading right now. ...Unless that thing is Demesne, in which case you might have a point.
I wasn't paid to say this. I speak (type?) from the heart. - RPG GamerRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Really fun story. Editing needs a little help. But the premise is excellent. And new chapters are posted frequently.
and now I have to keep writing to get 50 words even though I don’t have much more to say.
umm, I am enjoying it. Did I say that already?
What about the cool premise? Oops! That’s 50! - RadialleluiaRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This story is surprisingly likeable. I enjoy the fact it's more slice of life and that they focus on using magic for everyday things (instead of just battle and getting stronger). The house flipping part is fun, and some things make me laugh because I'm in the construction industry... I'd really like to see magic welding and concrete curing in real life, lol. The one thing keeping it from being a 5 star for now is it's hard to picture the characters. A lot of the races aren't even searchable on Google, nor are there sketches. I love that the author mentions different architectural and cultural periods, but the words don't mean anything to me because they aren't described or fleshed out enough (maybe that happens in later chapters and I'm getting impatient). If this was covered in author notes it would be helpful. Overall I will keep reading and see where this story goes!
