Welcome to the Flight of the Draykes. This novel is a System-based sword and magic Western Fantasy with elements of gamelit (Dungeons) and eastern cultivation (The system).
Genre:Fantasy, Historical, Action, Adventure, and a sprinkle of Romance with Comedy.
Pacing:Slow at first till chapter 30 before becoming a rollercoaster.
Known Issues:Ages of the Protagonist and allies at the start.
NOTE:THE AGES IN THIS NOVEL ARE NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF THEIR ACTUAL MATURITY. THEY ARE PROTEANS FIRST. AND HUMANS SECOND. Also, if you're looking for smut, this novel isn't for you. Not in the slightest.
On a fewer caps note: The age maturity thing is integral to the plot and it will be explained rationally as the books go along. You are free to guess why that is.
Synopsis:
Book 1 presents to you the world of Protos.
Protos is the land of the blessed. Its inhabitants are of many races, but most of them have diminished in the long wars against the beasts that also inhabit Protos.
This has led to humanity becoming the dominant species and eventually, all other races, including the beasts, have been banished to pockets of land where they survive on meager existences.
However, Protos was destined not to be peaceful as the inhabitants could only fight off the beasts with the help of warforce. A bloodline system that allows them to activate their war potential and battle fiercely.
Now, with the beasts defeated and the other races diminished, humanity - having no common foe to fight turned upon itself, for war was in their blood and they again shed their blood in rivers.
As the years passed, kingdoms and empires rose and fell and eventually stabilized into an uneasy peace until - 300 years ago, the world went through yet another change.
A change where the wielders of warforce now possessed additional powers that had been lost for millennia. These powers changed the face of war again and conflict, which was dying down, reignited madly.
In this world was born Faustus Drayke, Scion of House Drayke - which, in turn, was the frontier protector of The Kingdom of Leon.
Fate decreed him to be unimportant.
His Destiny and the desperate prophecy of a powerless girl decreed that he will be an immortal.
Set in the backdrop of betrayal, honor, and loyalty - Follow the tale of Faustus Drayke as he forges his destiny and becomes an immortal.
For himself, he has to fulfill the prophecy.
For the world, he better fulfill the prophecy.

The inspiration for this book came from Smoke is a Path's TotRL - which has unfortunately been discontinued.
I have no interest in finishing others' stories, but I love creating my own. So I took inspiration from TotRL and I created this vast original overreaching world of over 30 books, with each book being around 100 chapters.
Expect the full story to be close to 3000 chapters.

- GryzzlleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm not gonna do an in-depth rewiew, cause there arent much bad things to say about it, but damn are there some good things to say about it. If you just started reading, you might think " wait, these guys dont feel like kids " but just keep reading there are some explanations. I dont wanna spoil it. Anyways, the story is fantastic, and it gives you things to think about. The grammar and the style are just, like, perfecto.
BUT, the story is not for everyone, because its BY NO MEANS a short story.
Like if you think youre just gonna read like 200 chapters and reach the finale, no you arent the first book is gonan be like 100~150 chapters for bal's sake.
Also the author has done a neat job of replacing swear words with bal/balakash and other neat words. And he's a great guy. GO SUPPORT HIM.
If not with money, do it with words, words can mean a lot. - Sir_CheetoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is the first review I've given, so It might be a bit bad. It starts out slow, and the first few chapters a a bit info dumpy. But the author makes sure to pay attention to all the comments left on the chapters, and he has an excellent sense of foreshadowing. There is a lot of world building. And it's done in a pretty good way, and most chapters leave me theorizing and trying to figure out what's happening next. I'm giving this a higher rating than it deserves because it deserves a much bigger audience than it has. I cant wait to keep reading.
- Blind SerpentRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Overall:
I am used to reading pretty good fiction by fairly accomplished authors so this was a nice surprise. I could see the improvement in writing in these first chapters. I did get invested with the story and characters so the story did the trick for me then.
Style:
The style shifted mid writing, as things tend to do when people improve, I am not sure that this is the final form yet, but it is much more readable for my tastes. It is a bit leaner and more narrative focused rather than info dumpy.
Story Score:
I am quite invested, as I said. The story started out a little slow but I do realize the purpose for it as there are a lot of world building elements that were needed. Overall it is intriguing as I feel something building up, there is momentum.
Grammar Score:
I am not the best source for grammar evaluation and nothing jumped at me to detract from my reading experience.
Character Score:
Some aspects of the inner voice of the MC don't match their age and I didn't feel that it was explained yet or even suggested. This is 20k words into the story. Aside from that the development was really good - no one is a flat cut out, there are sides to each character and I am quite intrigued to know what happens to the MC in particular.
I do have a super long reading list but there is a very good chance that I will continue reading this, following for sure. Great job! - D.M. Rhodes (Razzmatazz)Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5“Flight of the Draykes,” is a fantasy novel that makes use of a [system], but it isn’t litrpg based. Rather, I would say that this is more similar to the eastern ‘cultivation’ novels, in a sense.
The story begins and follows Faustus Drayke, the youngest son born to a noble family. Faustus, despite his high-blood heritage, or perhaps because of it, is a bit of a wimp in all honesty. Though, in his defense, he’s six and he has the admirable goal of becoming stronger and tougher in order to become a knight. Often present as well is the secondary character, Alessia.
Now let’s stop here, because you will see this a lot in the story. Faustus is six, yes, and while reading the story, you might notice that… nothing that happens makes sense for a six year old to be doing, saying, etc. Well don’t you worry your sweet, little head about that, dear reader. The author gets into this a lot in the comments, it’s apparently a thing, as the race(?) that Faustus is has different aging mechanics than normal humans. So a six for them isn’t the same as a six-year old human would be.
There are some POV shifts now and then, but nothing too jarring. The writing is solid, but the author changes styles right in the beginning and the early chapters are apparently being rewritten to fit the new style, which is a shame because I personally liked the old one more.
One thing you should know before diving in, is that this is a long-term story. If you are impatient or if you want quick payoffs, you might be disappointed, as the author often alludes to several questions being multiple books away from being answered.
It’s a very uniquely written story in many senses, the system isn’t really the main focus, but is also something that is always present, as its mechanics are the goals of the characters. The writing is solid, once you have a second to find your footing and the character interactions are enjoyable once you understand the age thing mentioned before.
All in all, if you are interested in a f - Digital RiotRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5As a disclaimer, I've read up to chapter 18 as part of a review swap with the author. Judt as an FYI before getting on with the review:
To begin with, I'd like to say that this story has a lot of potential. It is obvious that the author has spent a lot of time worldbuilding to create a truly unique setting in which his story as out. There is also a huge commitment from the author to improve wherever possible. And that on its own is enough to extract a positive review from me.
This story has a lot of potential. However, there are just a variety of small issues that hold it back. I'll explain more thoroughly here:
-Style
In terms of style, this book takes a large hit in my mind. Many times does the author go in to huge expository info dumps about rather minute details. All authors struggle with this whenever they create a new world (I am definitely no exception), but it must be recognized that these info dumps tend to slow down the pacing of the story to a level that isn't ideal. I'd recommend only telling the reader information that is absolutely crucial to the plot and story, dropping hints about the world at large here and there, in order to make everything flow better. I've said this before, and I'll say it again, info-fumps aren't bad because people don't care about them. Many people do find lore, exposition, and worldbuilding quite fascinating. What makes info dumps bad are the way that they slow down the pacing of the story. Style wise, this hurts the book a lot.
Also related to both Style and Characters, is the dialogue. It feels too stiff. While this could be explained by the fact that our characters are rich nobles living in a fantasy world, it doesn't explain the fact the some of the dialogue interactions feel quite robotic at times. However, this can be easily resolved and is a smaller issue with regards to characters in the story. At least in comparison to my next critique.
-Character
The characters themselves are decent. They have pretty strong personali - Arch SageRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Overall - This is a fun novel to read. The way the author incorporated eastern settings into his medieval fantasy novel is beautiful. As a areader, I love everythirig. you want to read a book full of intrigueo , look no further than this. Highly recommended.
Style - style is first person point of view. The author shows the expressions and feelings of the characters in a fantastic way. The reader's are able to experience the ways of the characters in a great way. First person style works we the rpg/game element, highly commendable.
Story - A real beautiful take on the litrpg fantasy genre. Hard to put down. It'll make the reader's yearn for more. Right from synopsis, the readers will find the beautifully written novel hard to put down.
Grammar - Excellent use of the grammar. No complaint on this aspect. The flow of the story is smooth which shows the effort that the author is putting into the writing. Commendable.
Character - The main characters are re well designed and written for their roles. Although, they still ha've rooms for improvement. Their development show the great work of the author. The other characters are well catered for too. Kudos to the author. - _Fowl_Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5And saying so, she launched into her lecture, “Warforce is the bloodline power that exists within us. It is there in most of the population of Protos - whether it be humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, gnomes, etc - and it is generally awakened at the age of 10, though why so is still unclear.”
This piece gave me flashbacks of Tales of Demons and Gods, the first classroom scene, for some reason. Just pointing it out. Nice explanation of the system by the way.
The first two chapters are a tad slow, compared to the ones after. The author already said something similar, so I won't dwell on it.
The author goes on and off about mixing dialogue and descriptions: when he does it, the mix is wonderful and makes reading easier; however, when he does not, it becomes a little too descriptive for your average reader.
The power system is clearly presented and explained through the characters. The style blends almost always well those parts with more fight-y parts.
As the author said, the novel is pretty much slow-paced in the beginning, but still clear enough. We can already see the mc's struggle for power and his relationship with friends and potential enemies.
Overall, I'd say I'll keep reading and probably withhold my judgement on some parts. I need to see more for a more appropriate review, but this should suffice for someone who's looking for some feedback before starting to read. - Astralise.InkRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The setting is interesting, with alot of time and effort put into it. The protagonist is great, and some of the side characters have potential. The narration and the POV changes make it a little hard to follow at some places, but nothing that is too jarring.
Style: I am always partial to the third person narration, however, once the story started in the first person, I would have liked to see it continue, and the protagonist is a little too verbose for his young age. That said, the style of the prose has enough substance for me to ignore that minor inconveniences.
Story: The world itself is fantastic, and it is clear that the author has put some real effort into the system. However, I could have done without the info dump at the beginning. It would have been preferable to have some of the stuff revealed organically.
Grammar: Some minor punctuation stuff. Nothing that distracts from the story.
Characters: The cast is composed of interesting people. I particularly like the foil. The protagonist is likeable. I am interested to see his eventual transformation.
Overall: It is great story with interesting characters that could be a masterpiece with a bit of polishing. I recommend giving it a shot. - TurtleKingRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Style Score - This story does an excellent job mixing dialogue and description in a way that makes the pacing of the story very enjoyable. My only gripe is that one of the early chapters seemed to be too much of an info dump on how the system worked, although I think that it won't take terribly much effort to fix this. Granted there are many solutions to fixing this problem, but what I would do is take some of the explanations and turn them into a scene. Instead of explaining all the ranks, maybe have the main character witness some of the lower ranks interacting with each other, showing differences in power rather than just outright stating the differences. That is just what I would do. Again this was only a minor issue, and I still really enjoyed what I read.
Story score - The story is good. It doesn't feel rushed. Personally, I enjoy stories that spend some time introducing the characters and environment.
Grammar Score - The grammar seemed pretty flawless. The author did a good job varying the sentence structure. I didn't find any misspellings or terribly awkward sentences. I know some people don't like first-person stories, but I don't mind them. It gives the author the opportunity, to show how the main character thinks in a way that you can't find in a third-person story.
Character Score - The characters in this story seemed real. The dialogue was realistic, each character has their own motivations for the most part when they aren't info-dumping. I think when you info dump though, it makes the characters seem a little less real because often a conversation wouldn't be so one-sided, even in a teaching situation. If you're keeping some of the info dumps, maybe intersperse more interjections. The characters were good though.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this. I will likely come back to this when I have the time to continue reading. - world_wandererRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I will start with the grammar. Everything is clear and simple. I didn't find spelling mistakes that grapped my eye. For me that's already enough. The author made a great job on editing his novel. Good job.
Style - It's a clear 1st narrative. Personally I don't like it because for me it is very restricting. Anyway, I didn't find any big problems with.
Story
Story in the initial chapters has room for improvement. Because there is infodump in the 1st two chapters. It was boring for me. Author could introduce his readers through a natural way as MC grew up and learned new things. Following that there is ingo about power ranks and other similar stuff. I think that part can also be improved to make it more natural. I suggest author put away those infodumps and better concentrate on introducing MC and his family more. It would have been much better.
Characters
This is the best part of the story. I liked all characters and the amount of work author put into them. Great job. Besides, for me MC is auethentic because a young, weak boy should be passive in the beginning of his journey. He is still learning and developing his confidence. Good job.
Overall. Though the story is a bit rough, it has big potential. Even power ranking here is interesting. So, I would keep an eye on this work and give it another try after author make edit of his story.
