Flight of a Villainess
Community Rating
Description
Few people are purely evil or good. Everyone has their own desires and their own principles guiding what they are prepared to do to achieve those desires. A duke who wants to expand the influence of his house, his wife who is fiercely loyal to her friends, and their child who just wants some comfortable clothes. The queen who wants what's best for the kingdom, the king who wants what's best for his family and a prince with an inferiority complex. Even if everyone acts in a way they deem 'correct', sometimes people can still get hurt.
This was the first story I finished writing, although not the first I posted. It's a very short (11k word) story about a 'villainess' who just wants to get away from it all. Only posted on scribblehub and royalroad. Cover image is from the graphics fairy.

- CakeyLiesRoyal Roadβ β β β β 5.0It was a fun take on the villainess trope with great writing and a fun main character. It also doesn't out stay it's welcome like a lot of villainess stories but still leaves you wanting a little more. If you like the trope you will like this story if you don't you will still have a nice little onesnot.
- Darker7Royal Roadβ β β β β 5.0What I expected was a "reincarnated into an otome-game" plot with some fun insults and maybe a bit of romance.
What I got was a court intrigue murder mystery (where the one that was murdered was the villainess' reputation).
This was a really fun because of the sheer competence of so many characters involved. Once her parents and the queen met, we had more brain power concentrated in a single room than can be rounded up in an entire American college usually.
The queen's definitely my favourite character; the competence just, mmm~ *chef's kiss*.
This may be less than 12k words long, but it feels a lot longer because of just how much information is packed into every single sentence.
The best thing in my opinion is how accurately it portrays the workings of highly intelligent people from the inside. So to the averagely gifted I say, "Come and see how the minds of the extraordinarily gifted work!" :Γβ’ - VorLuNoxRoyal Roadβ β β β β 5.0An absolutely masterpiece. Yeah, sound excessive but, wow! Caught me bait and hook straight from the throat! Started reading at midnight thinking to read just a bit of it and ended reading it practically twice in a row and now is 5:00 in the morning. Damn it was GOOD! Great story Catchfact. Well done.
- hakatri ginRoyal Roadβ β β β β 5.0This is an improvement over those generic villainess stories for two main reasons:
1- The MC is very proactive and has personal goals
2- It goes to the point, instead of delving into endless soup opera-like arguments, and the constant victimization or vindictiveness from the generic stories
Its a short read and none of it is a waste, you get all the bang for your buck - Entitled InfracaninophileRoyal Roadβ β β β β 5.0Hehe! Nice first shot, well thought through. The title is a misnomer I would say - there's no villainess here, and everything turns out for the best. It's an enjoyable little piece, and I can only recommend it if you look for a short but highly entertaining read. Kudos to the author! Will take a closer look at your other stories for sure now π.
- HyrielRoyal Roadβ β β β β 5.0I love the hell out of villainess stories and this one was one of the best I've read! I totally agree with you, wordsmith, regarding how the villainess tends to handle what's coming at her. This was a great short story and an excellent bit of dopamine. I didn't figure out the mastermind behind it all until the afternoon of June 6th but when I did I was cackling with glee.
- IstaNonCuroRoyal Roadβ β β β β 5.0Short and fun oneshot. If one likes watching a plot unfold I would definitely recommend this story. It also has surprising character depth despite its length and the fact that it isn't the main focus. Writing style is fine; it's noticable that it's an early work but it's nothing I would call bad. Overall a very enjoyable read.
- LiteraryWhoRoyal Roadβ β β β β 5.0Doesn't waste your time on endless "slice of life" dithering while it desperately fights against an ending the author clearly has no ideas for.Β Instead, it gets to the point, and gives us an interesting character and a more interesting plot.Β Could probably be extended into a proper mystery story.
- MK bk-201Royal Roadβ β β β β 5.0What happends when your life is decided by your parents and tied to an idiot who completly hates you?, not to mention your own father and your future spouse mother sees you as a tool?, when your fiancΓ©e is in love with another person and you have to suck it up because it would look bad if were to complain?, you clutch to freedom in any way you deem possible, but you have to be smart about it.
- MasterGamerRoyal Roadβ β β β β 5.0An excellent little tale told from a diverse range of viewpoints.
Different from many stories, the main character of the story only makes a small appearance. Instead, the reader is shown the chaos left in the wake of her actions through the eyes of a very diverse cast of characters.
If you are looking for something small but remarkably well done, I would recommend reading this one.
