- LynskyderRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5A lovely story based upon an excellent premise. The world feels alive and believable and the motivations of the characters seem reasonable with natural conflicts. I particularly like the realism of braille being considered far more useful than standard letters in a world with so little light. My main complaint would be that the greater mysteries of the world (what caused the sun to go out, why are runes restricted, etc.) are left as mysteries, but that is simply because this is a short story without the time to go into the depths required.
I didn't see any grammar issues.
As a short story, it keeps the number of characters that the reader needs to care about well under control, while still feeling like there is an entire world of people in the background with their own motivations.
The use of flashbacks works well at building up both the world and the reader's understanding of the main character Nueve.
I would recommend if you enjoy action fantasy grounded in realism with shades of dystopia. The stakes of the story are not world-shattering, but important - the life of a young woman and the incredible treasure she possesses, which she values more as an heirloom.
