- XaphanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Not my usual cup of tea, but I had fun reading this one. :)
The characters are lively and the world seems vast and rich, and while the protagonist seems to be leaning juuuust a little bit toward being a bit of a Gary Sue, it's not too obvious so it doesn't get in the way.
Also, finally, someone who hates running as much as I do! - retaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The pacing is great, and I like the lore a lot. There's a lot going on but it's well explained. The main character is likeable, knows what he's doing, and when to be ruthless. Enjoying it quite a bit, especially the fight scenes, they're my favourite parts so far.
Hoping for more! - Marie SueRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5the story is pretty good so far, good start, I like the main character very much, have a cold side to him due to his background but is not losing his humanity, I'm waiting to read the rest in the future and I do hope the story will keep being interesting and not turn into a harem as usual lol
- danyRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Just to begin it really is an absolute delight.
The story has a good start without any typical boring situations you would expect from a protagonist of an isekai
A cultivation novel with deep characters that have meaning emotions ambitions and background stories though all of it is just beginning to unravel .
Protagonist is a bit on ruthless side but not a stone cold psychopath .
Hoping For more ! - ZairaphineRoyal Road★★★ 2.5I liked the overal writing style but the auther failed to really complete either a full charicter or story arc by the end of what is now book one. I would have almost certainly rated this higher if it were longer but but given the pacing and number of plot threads established this feels like the first half or even third of a longer novel but incomplete on it's own even judging by the standards of the first book in a longer serise.
- NorrieRoyal Road★ 1.0tl;dr - good, bit lore dumpy, asshole mc annoying
The world seems interesting but because the entire story has taken place in one spot so far its just a bunch of telling and not showing so far. Feels like the story could have made twice as much progress if it wasn't for the constant lore dumps, most of which aren't fully explained anyway or could have been explained at a later time when they become more relevant.
The characters are cool, grandpa being the obvious coolest. Lots of genuinely interesting old generation characters and some potentially cool villains in the monk/little girl. The protagonist on the other hand comes across as a bit of an petulant asshole sometimes. I understand he's in a crazy situation and expect him to freak out about stuff, but he seems to just start raging in his head for seemingly no real reason. Maybe this is super in character as I imagine people who punch people to death for money/entertainment are a bit messed up in the head and have random rage moodswings? I don't know its just weird to me.
All in all it's an enjoyable read well worth the time, and I imagine all this lore will pay off in the long run.
