Description

When a badly damaged alien battleship drops out of hyperspace and requests to dock with The International Space Station, astronauts aboard the station have a big decision to make on behalf of the whole humanity…

Authors note: This was the first story I wrote when I started in September 2022. I jumped right into it as it gained traction as soon as I posted in on reddit. So first few chapters (or maybe all of them up to 20th or so) are my first steps into the writing and riddled with mistakes (bad dialogue here and there, too much narration, etc) and grammar mistakes.

There where some people that kindly offered themselves and edited few chapters, but I posted raw material anyway, I wanted people who read to see my progress (if any), maybe I will go back and rewrite those first few chapters if this story goes the distance in the future...

This is a very good story. I really enjoyed reading it in between Bridgebuilder chapters.
The syntax is bad but everything was easily understandable. And I didn't feel lost at all because of that or any spelling mistakes.
I can't post this without adding more words. There once was a ship that put to sea the name of the ship was the bully of tea

I couldn't finish chapter 9, the grammer and run on sentances were just getting to me. The story itself seems fine, and I'm sure it gets going really well after the introductions to characters and settings are over, but I just couldn't get into it without losing myself in the multitude of mistakes in the writing. It's not just one small mistake here or there that's possible to ignore either, the author is rather consistent with their language.
Not trying to be an asshole here, but this is what a reviw is for. Sorry.

The grammar and spelling made this all so hard to read and Really, really wanted to like it.
There's almost no character development and while this is a short story, there are too many main characters for the length of the book.
The story arch is convoluted. -  Everyone is an enemy except when they're not.
    *MULTIPLE SPOILERS AHEAD*
A race that was not hostile at the start, is now attacked for no reason other than *You'll need to read yourself to understand.* It effects the writing and the style the author is going for, making it very convoluted. There is simply too much in such a short time that it simply doesn't fit.
Basic sentence structure, word placement and spell check - I put a chapter into Word and instantly it offered me solutions. Spelling is one part of a story and our minds can forgive a lot and even if you force the readers mind to stop and rethink a word here and there, it'll be okay. That unfortunately isn't the case for this story. Words misspelt make you pause before you finally understand what the author meant, words that aren't there, that make a sentence seem incomplete, or simply worded poorly, to do so consistently makes it unenjoyable and in a lot of cases, jaring.
Military protocol - I'm ex army and while I was not chairforce (yep), or navy, a lot of astronauts have some form of service history, if not still active service so... oh boy, where do I even begin. If you can over- look everything else I've mentioned in this review, awesome but what broke this entire story the most, was the lazy research the author did on any military protocol. *Spoilers* I cannot understand for the life of me how a General in charge of US forces to meet aliens landing in New York could SNEEK A TANK, PLUS VEHICLES WITH ROCKETS AND NOT BE STOPPED BY ONE OF THE MANY, MANY INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES!!!!! To then having a Lieutenant be in charge, not a Lieutenant Colonel mind you. Removing the rest of earth's military organisations and to the last one - lack of military comm
