Pretty good story IMPO, a little on the short side but high on the emotion side. Stories like this make me glad I'm not a parent, tugs a wee bit to hard on the heart strings.
IMPO it might be a good extra bit of story to write things from the daughters POV splitting off from this story.

This is a great short piece capturing the horrors of space.
It works with classic archtypes to tell a compelling story in a short amount of time. A disaster short story set in space is always a fun read.
My constructive criticism for this piece is that I wish there was more characterisation in the action. For example, "The man's inexperience shows as he feeds the baby" misses a chance to show me how he is going wrong and what wrong instincts he has. There are rows of dialogue that would offer this opportunity without impacting the quick pace.

The dad dying broke my soul so I can't give a 5 star rating.
All else given, it is wonderful work. Would definetly like to see more, such a sequel book where the daughter follows in her dads footsteps and also contributes to saving humanity.
Please revive the dad and make it a story about zombies. Zombies make everything better.

A pretty good short story about a person in a failing ship with the only objective of saving his very pregnant wife, when that fails he is only left with his newly born daughter, which he will do anything to make sure she survives, even if she does it alone.
    Some grammatical errors

Story- I wasn't the biggest fan of the overall direction the story took, but that is ultimately my personal preference and not indicative of poor writing. I think it was very well done for what it was, but, as they say, you can have the tastiest apple in the world but some people just don't like apples.
Style- The formatting was a little atypical for what I'm used to regarding the dialogue and knowing who said, or thought, what. However, it wasn't something that significantly impeded comprehension, rather it was merely another personal preference of mine.
Grammar- the technical aspects of the writing were fine, no glaring errors. Like I said previously, the formatting wasn't exactly to my tastes, but that doesn't mean it was incorrect.
Characters- The few characters in the story felt fairly predictable, but I don't think this is necessarily a negative thing. Often times, in real life, people are predictable. Especially in high stress situations, a person is going to try to save themselves, save their family, etc. So the predictability of the characters in this story actually adds to the realism of it. Their actions made the story more believable.
To clarify, I liked this story, I thought is was quite good, so hopefully my star ratings don't come of as harsh.
In fact, despite what I said about the characters and story being fairly predictable, albeit realistic, I actually was surprised by
the perspective shift of chapter 5. Earlier in the story, the "stage direction" description of the environment had thrown me off a little bit and, to be honest, I was prepared to dislike the story because of that line. And again at the end of chapter 4, when the other "stage direction" line happened, I rolled my eyes and just told myself that maybe GateKeeper just likes writing screenplays or something.
But realizing how it fits perfectly with the framing of the final chapter made me reevaluate.
    In addition, the scene where
the baby is cut out of the mother--or rather the implicatio
