Description
Jake wakes up in a deserted carnival, disoriented and haunted by his memories. As he explores the eerily familiar surroundings, he begins to question his reality when he encounters a figure from his past. What starts as a nostalgic trip soon turns into a nightmarish ordeal, forcing Jake to confront his deepest fears and the lingering grief that has consumed him. The line between reality and illusion blurs as Jake is drawn deeper into the mystery of why he’s returned to this place, and what—or who—is waiting for him there.

- RznRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This is a pretty good short story, and Jake finds out a little more about the meaning of the vows than intended. As a horror piece, it has the tension and prose to match. There is not much that is really an issue, though it doesn't quite really have the reader identify with Jake. It is good, though it falls to the conventions without a good twist or a strong ending.
