Despite claiming to be magical girl genre (in the title, even!), it really does not read like one in any way.
I am past the prologue and already 6 chapters in, so combined with how it has shown itself as more of a supernatural genre vampire-esque story (yknow, the kind where mc contracted a curse that turns them into a monster. Think Tokyo ghoul vibes, instead of magical girl? Both tragical or otherwise) I doubt it's that it's merely still in the pre-contract introductory chapters.
Lastly, assuming "willow reverie" refers to an Academy 'for their kind' or the like, I am also getting vibes (though admittedly far too early for any such vibes to be reliable, so better to focus on the above paragraphs of what has been, than what might possibly be) that it will read rather more like a xmen/super-hero-school kind of thing.
