Description
Demons fear swords and magic. They never saw the needle coming.
Trapped in a fractured home life, teen Ezra has always dreamed of escape. One day, he takes things into his own hands and runs away from home—only to wake up in an enchanted kingdom.
Cortia is a land of classes, skills, and stats, and its been under attack for 50 years. Every day, the Demon King draws ever closer. He’s opposed by Otherworlders: powerful soldiers who possess the unique ability to bond with Spirit Weapons.
The kingdom makes Ezra an offer: fight for them and receive a Spirit Weapon. Ezra accepts, expecting a sword or a spear.
He certainly doesn’t expect a sentient needle with a petty streak and a hidden past.
With monsters, murderous Knight Commanders, and his own weapon breathing down his throat, a normal person would probably buckle under the pressure. For Ezra, this is an opportunity—thanks to levels, the power he’s craved is finally in sight.
And nothing’s going to get in his way.
What to expect:
- Skills for days.
- Unique Spirit Weapon Progression System with interesting limitations and abilities.
- Weak to Strong, morally grey MC.

- theambitRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Very good writing and the story moves at a good pace. The story is a good take on the standard school class summoned. It adress the biggest problem with the trop, being summoned and then everything being Teens are stupid and they make questionable decisions but they are teens. Characters have a good amount of depth which slowly comes out as the story progresses.
- Ramdom57Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's an interesting one, mostly for the MC Ezra. I'm not sure I've seen someone so terrible to other people while remaining this likeable to the reader. Maybe because his heart is in the right direction? Not sure, but it seems like this is one readers will know right away if the MC is worth it.
- SentientCatWyndeRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0While the generic tropes exist, I do think that this novel deserves a shot. I feel as if its a hidden gem but the title and the opening doesn't really fit the whole isekai idea much.
What I liked about the story, at least so far, is that the emotional turmoils of the characters are progressive and builds up.
What I don't like about the story, is the part where there was a random flashback moment without a good enough segway to put it in. While the telekinetic and needle combo reminds me of guardian of the galaxy, it seems like Ezra is dead set on being a melee fighter as far as I've read.
I do think this novel deserves a chance to be recognized. - Ora TuaRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The world is interesting and decently well written, but the main character is so unlikeable, to the point that I lost count of how many times I thought about dropping the series, every time they seem to have any sort of growth, they rebound so hard back to being an unlikeable shit.
- QueSeaRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I wanted to like this. The story is well written and the author has a good idea of who his characters are. It is an interesting premise. The world seems interesting. There were so many elements here for me to be excited about. Then I started reading. The MC, in my opinion, is completely unlikable and multiple times in the extent that I read, I actively wished for his death just to be the end of him. I do not understand why this MC type is becoming more and more popular but I am starting to see more and more stories with this MC type. If you're looking for a well written story, in a unique world, with an MC who is a complete a-hole to everyone around him for little to no reason, than look no further.
- SchusfusterRoyal Road★★★ 3.0All of the strong characters are jerks. I don't care that the main character is from a hard background or that the situatiom is dire, it's all just bad things justifying worse things, and it's just not my thing. But if you don't mind deeply broken characters and situations, it may be your thing, the writing is excellent.
- iridium248Royal Road★★ 2.0Ah, yes. The group transfer isekai - We've seen it in stories such as Failure Frame, Arifuerta, Is This Hunter for Real, I'm a Spider, so What?, Dungeon Seeker, Instant Death, My Skill Sucks but this Party Blows (i.e. Ore dake Fuguu Skill no Isekai Shoukan Hangyakuki ~Saijaku Skill "Kyuushuu" ga Subete o Nomikomu made~)
There's always such potential in a setup like this, one that's rarely full realized. In that, I have to say that Fateweaver absolutely captures the spirit of the above stories. If that's what you're looking for, I would recommend that you stop reading this review immediately, and add one-to-two stars to the rating. There's absolutely no shame in enjoying what you like, and you pretty much know what you're getting into from the word 'go'.
Fateweaver follows the adventures of Ezra (and his class) who all end up being sent to the magical world of Cortia. As Otherworlders, magical champions with the ability to wield Spirit Weapons, they're tasked with defeating the Demon King. In order to do that, they'll have to defeat his apostles, super-powerful Bosses scattered around the world, while leveling up through their interactions with the RPG-esque System, until they gain sufficient power to finally end his reign of terror.
It's a classic set-up, and as good a premise as any. However, the execution feels a little awkward.
Right from the start, we see that Ezra is aloof, rather poor at social interaction, and holds grudges like you wouldn't believe. He particularly (justifiably) dislikes Charles, his former bully, who has also been brought along for the ride (and who literally has a posse with guys named Lackey 1 and Lackey 2).
Also, he simply cannot keep his mouth shut.
Look, I'm going to be honest. Ezra sucks, and not in the Flashman-esque way that wraps around to being an ethos. He's pointlessly abrasive in nearly every scene he's in, he's rude and dickish to others, and has a rather inflated opinion of his own abilities.
I'm not sure whether this was del - Karl NordRoyal Road★ 1.0I'm all for anti-heroes. You know what isn't fun though? The MC being a Karen in a man's body.
I can not recommend this story for this reason. I like group summonings but there's some big problems here.
Chapters 9 and 10 are when this come to a head:
Charles is a cartoonishly evil jock and the MC is a cartoonishly resentful nerd. That kind of character writing just oozes resentment and is really hard to stomach. I don't want to be teleported into another world to relive the dumbest part of high school.
The rest of classmates not having a noble bone in their bodies is also… …ridiculous? This is like some kind of Xianxia where everyone but the MC is an arrogant noble. Now everyone is a cowardly self-deceiving piece of garbage.
Becoming leader just to spite Charles? This is so petty. It’s not even anti-villain. It’s like Karen behavior.
I say all of the above as someone who was a nerd in high school. - DragonMaster66Royal Road★ 0.5The main characters are just rude to each other, causing conflict where there shouldn't be as much. They should at least put aside their differences while figuring out this new world. Overall I just prefer other stories where the characters at least figure out how to be civil to each other. Especially since they are school mates, they should have some practice at it from school.
- ItsAJokeRoyal Road★ 0.5There was some potential at first, but every stupid and superficial thought broke me until I gave up.
Spoiler: The classic trope of the evil queen summoning cannon fodder for the war against the demon king.
At this point they lied saying that the one who summoned them was the villain and EVERYONE believes it, HOW????
Chapter 50 was the last straw.
