Fantasy Short Stories Before Bed
Community Rating
Description
Explore forgotten lands, uncover secret battles and enjoy the snippets of life brought to you by these short stories. Whether you are looking for a quick read before bed, waiting to get picked up from school or maybe you're on a lunch break at work, these stories are the ones for you!
Author's Note:
I intend to keep the setting as mostly fantasy based and then build stories on top of that, though the fantasy world will probably be different for every story. I enjoy writing and I am willing to take feedback. For the most part I just want to get the stories out there to gauge if there is any interest in my stuff at all really.
I'd be up for creating stories that have "progression" in them too! My favourite book on the site is mother of learning after all!
I encourage comments and would love to read what you guys think! I put a lot of love and effort into my work. ^_^
Also the cover image is original art created by me.

- SummerRennaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Another solid entry into the rising subgenre I think of as 'cozy fantasy'.
Style: The prose is descriptive and does a good job of setting the scene and building up the magical, otherwordly atmosphere.
Story: The story is short and tightly written, with a heartwarming take on familiar story elements. The world of the story captures the sort of magic and wonder that readers who grew up with classic YA fantasies will enjoy. The ending of the story ties it all up nicely. I won't go into more detail here in order to avoid spoilers, but it's definitely the sort of story that makes for a nice, cozy read before bed as promised by the title.
Grammer: The grammar is solid, with no issues that I can see.
Characters: In the short glimpse the reader is given into this world, an array of colorful characters are shown that add a unique vibrancy to the world and scene. The protagonist is well-written, balancing the emotions of being caught between dueling wants and inner growth.
Overall: 'Visit to the Meadow' is a warm, lovely short story! I like the concept of this anthology as a whole, with quick and easy reads that one can just relax with and enjoy. I'm eager to see what will come next in this anthology. - Sketch SanchezRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I thought your descriptions were well done, I especially enjoyed the bit about the MC in the fields alone and the vibes relayed therein. Especially the bits about the colors. Some typos and grammer issues but nothing that made me stop dead in my tracks. I do think the ending is a too abrupt ( and I'm not sure if this is *the* ending since this is a short story). Maybe a little table setting before the reveal? I'm unsure.
- MaiseluuRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I have only read the first story to date. It's a short personal story about growing up, that's not bad at all. I liked how descriptive it is, how the setting is so magical and dreamy, it reminded me of a book I read as a child. The text does a good job of giving you poignant images, and although you barely know any information about the characters, it gives just enough for us to feel them. Not bad!
