For young mages, obtaining their first familiar is a momentous occasion. Their magic forms a symbiotic relationship with their bonded mage, amplifying their's strengths and covering for their weaknesses. Often the strength of one's familiar is a key factor in how far a mage will go in their career. They are considered a necessity in the Empire of Afaron and the surrounding nations.

Once familiars were caught in the wild and brought back for training and bonding. Eventually, however, the wild magic beasts were hunted to the point that they could no longer be found. Those that had been bred domestically would often produce magicless offspring. Nowadays the mages of Afaron know nothing of how familiars are bred, raised, and tamed. Once every three years, the Order of Beast Tamers come down from their mountain strongholds with caravans loaded with familiars purchased by noble families and magic academies.

The Beast Tamer's generosity hides a dark truth. If you can't find a magic beast, make one.

I made this account just to write this review. I was tired with the general trend of novels on this site ( system, OP mc and you get the idea ). This novel is a breath of fresh air. The story is unique and the pacing is good. Races vary, they aren't just you're general elves, drwarves and dragons. It explores the dark side of fantasy novels and does a fantastic job at that.
The only things that improve this novels would be a bit more world building and more on the past of the characters.
I loved everything about this novel, howeverI was disappointed to see it on hiatus. I would be ready to buy the chapters if needs be, it's a must read. Really hope the author picks the novel again.

Amazing book. I'm guessing as the book progresses mark will either submit to his owners or continuously resist them, both could be interesting. You have a good book with some really good ideas I I currently like where it is going and whatever direction you take it I'm sure it will turn out fine as currently you are doing great. The only problem I have with this book is that it's too short. :(

Already early on, this story shows a lot of promise to me, with a fairly dark theme and elements. The main character is a victim of physical and psychological abuse in a high fantasy setting, and the story flips between his perspective and that of his abusers, who are not all unsympathetic characters. It gives a nuanced view of horrifying crimes, which is rarely done.
The story does have its flaws though. It draws pretty heavily on some common tropes, which can make it feel a little cliche in some aspects, but it does give actual explanation to the history, motivations, and logic that explains why the author's world is how it is.
Overall, the story definitely needs a bit more time to develop. We've yet to see too much character development simply because there hasn't been that many chapters, and its strengths and flaws could change as it moves forward. I'd be excited to see where it does go, however, and think its off to a great start.

L'histoire du protagoniste et des autres victimes crée un sentiment de frustration qui peut peut-être vous conduire à quelque chose d'amusant. Le danger dans ce genre de chose est de laisser l’intrigue s’enliser. Une tromperie qui a été abandonnée mais peut-être, peut-être qu'un jour l'auteur reviendra et l'améliorera.
