- ReadingWordRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I very much like book 1. The mythology weaving is nice. Overall it is a lighthearted story, Tom Sawyer-ish perhaps. The story does "jump" a little bit sometimes and I had to reread some sections to understand what happended--lots happens fast! Some of the tension that drew me to the story disappeared after book 1 however. The MC interacts with people on a fairly superficial level and we only get short glimpses into the thoughts of others. Since we never became emotionally attached to anyone except the MC, once the MC's situation became stable the tension driving the story dissapated . . .
