There is no darkness, no light—only sensation. A crushing force bears down on my chest. An unseen hand squeezes reason. Frost claws over our skin. The scent strikes—burnt, acrid, clawing at my throat—fire blooms, searing into my side. We collapse, breaths shallow. I want to scream; the sound dies. Our union forbids it. We endure. My voice cracks: “Why?”

The world tightens its grip. I hold on—eyes drawn to His defiance. I too… “Must rebel.” Memories fracture to dust. Faceless, formless, his pain twists through me. I bear this cross with him. The shadows pull tighter. Dreams were different once—he was fractured, light stolen, shrouded in cruelty vast and nameless. I know his heart; he gives no heed to it.

The black recedes, leaving us gasping. Throat chokes on bile. I haunt his heels. My chest burns; our spirits falter. My eyes open, cheeks wet. The pain lingers—a reminder of your soul touching mine.
