Extermination Order

Description
So it turns out that anime got something right: If you get hit by a truck, you're going to another world. Dennis became subject to that unknown quirk of reality when crossing a busy city street (despite having looked both ways). But that was quite some years ago. He's been around this new world 'Nassur' a time or two and knows how to live a good life. He also knows that adventuring friggin sucks. So, what is a man to do in a fantasy world with a shoddy leveling system that constantly suggests getting more XP,anda condition set by the gods that you must make the world a better place?
Pest extermination.
But reality is often fickle. Perhaps one day it is only rats, another, mechanical centipedes with lasers. Maybe the Dark Lord needs a shoulder to cry on because his dungeon simply can't be ready in time for the adventurers he likes to do battle against. Another poor soul from Earth could appear just as dazed and confused as the day you'd first arrived, requiring a good long talk about 'hey, what the hell is this, man'. And maybe... just maybe, that thick book of owed favors comes back to haunt you.
For a man who desires a peaceful, productive life, Dennis can find it rather difficult for a week to go by where something doesn't go awry.
This series originally started on r/HFY,[Link]but I decided to post it here since people are so positive about it! Posting rate is, and likely will continue to be, rather inconsistent.

- adms117Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0An amazingly fun read.
Great blend of isekai into magical world but keeping the fun of references going the entire time. MC is fun without being MarySue or too OP. Has a good blend of interesting characters and odd circumstances. Can easily see the influence of things like DnD Tomb of Annihilation, but approaching it from an entirely different angle. It's great.
Lot of references to adventures that happened before the story, so you do get a slice of the life rather then ever tiny detail. Flows very well.
There are a few characters that sound very similar to one another, but that's not too much of an issue. There is one character that was *VERY* different, even for a talking horse, but thankfully was toned down a little bit after a chapter or two.
The last ~2 chapters (not including the epilogue) felt a bit more rushed then the rest of the story, but I'd much rather have that and have a proper ending then have it abandoned.
I found it in HFY reddit years ago and jumped here to RR for the better environment, and format.
To the author: well done! This was very fun and a great read! - EmpireofTrustRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a fun piece of snarky, injoke laden fun.
This isnt your fresh from under truckuns tender embrace noob, this is the story of a true professional honed from years of experience in this magic hero strewn land.
Like all pros he suffers no fools lightly, charges asshole tax twice if he needs to, does his job with panache as good craftsmen consider a job done well quickly as a minimum.
Well worth the time spent reading if this kind of story floats your boat. - SpaceTimeHydraRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So many isekais follow the same old "death, goddess, problem-solving with my OP cheats, harem" pathway. Not this one! Extermination Order features a guy who actually knows what he's doing and is not fresh off the interdimensional boat. The worldbuilding is aware of the tropes and entertaining in and of itself. The plot is coherent and doesn't abuse magical superweapons. Overall it's been an awesome read and I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy but not trash isekai.
- XordaiiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Love the style! Not really a fan of a narrator that bounces back and forth or even POV storytelling, but it was a story that kept me reading. To be fair, POV just made this one work. The main char has opinions, you will hear them, and probably laugh.
World build is cool. Doesn't lend to a sequel, but not everything has to. Very nice one off to answer a lot of questions about gods, souls, and existence. The pacing was a little slow then fast, but that could have been the context of writing memoirs.
Little bit of grammar needs editing in there, but readable and it doesn't usually pull me out of the zone to interpret it. I appreciate that. Thank you for your effort!
Character; whoo boy. The main is so train-of-thought, jaded, or both and I just like him. Would want to be friends. He may have a bit of OP going on, but it isn't anything Anyone Else could have worked up to or doesn't match. There are people more powerful, and he uses his wits rather than be the typical adventurer leveling up just to fight bigger and badder. He tries to figure out the world and just wants a place for himself.
The others were very fleshed out characters. I loved his spouse, hated Drominnus, and still don't know how I feel on Matti. They feel like people.
Thank you for the story and all your effort, author. Giving a 5 because the grammar errors and pacing weren't even worth taking half a star off. - ZarEthosRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a hidden gem of the site, and of fiction. I'd equate it to the comedy level of Dungeon Crawler Carl, except that it's more stable without being as vulgar. You will have a constant stream of laughs, pop culture references, and creative solutions to unusual problems. Don't sleep on Extinction Order. Your only regret will be that it ends, though even the ending was handled well.
- ForrestRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am really enjoying the strength of the writing, the depth of the characters and the fast paced comedy. Somehow, there is a whole lot of world building with the reader barely noticing. Very nice.
I really enjoy that the MC is at the top of their game. Established. But still working through a whole slew of situations. The banter is great, the characters are interesting and you keep learning layer after layer about the MC.
Just read it. It's great! - Grand Admiral BobRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0TLDR; Read the first chapter and if you like it, you will almost certainly enjoy the whole thing.
As is reflected by the starry constellataion attached to this review, this is is generally a very fun story and one I have generally enjoyed throughtout its run. I dislike the aspect of the story marriarge+extra marital dating, but this is not the forum to go into why, and while I could nitpick at some other things I disagree with, but those are not things the story is about. The character is fun and he makes fun choices through what has been posted here so far. The work is full of references and there are probably more references that I could not catch. The tone of the work is well established and the wordplay is memorable and I would say generally a cut above.
I would suggest that the author add a profanity tag as there is a non-trivial amount included in the text.
Edit; The author has added the profanity tag. Cool guy! - MusemakerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This tale is a wild ride. A God's Chosen (isekai'd Earthling) decides that adventuring sucks and he'd rather make the world a better place by exterminating vermin for a living. It is, strictly speaking, following the letter of what the gods of Nassur asked for, if not the spirit. Good for the world. And great for not dying. Probably.
Besides, someone has to do it. And unlike adventuring, extermination is steady work that keeps the lights on, employees paid, and earns the MC a reputation that makes him indispensable. Some days it might be exterminating mundane rats and bugs. Some days you're working for a terrifying monster. And some days you're working IN a terrifying monster. But through it all, there will usually be someone to train, someone to save, someone who pays, and shenanigans (safety violations) of one sort or another.
There are few stories like this on RR. It's a fun and easy read that has a good flow while reading and a generally quick pace. Grammar, syntax and spelling are very good. The narrative has a refreshing informal style that almost feels like the MC is telling you a wild tale in his home over a cup of coffee and biscuits.
If you think you would enjoy a fast paced narrative with multiple pop culture references and a generally kind, but no nonsense MC that's trying to game the system while covering his backside and keeping it in one piece, then this might be a story for you. Also, the story is finished so no waiting for more chapters. I wasn't sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. It's definitely worth a chance. - Mythical DarkRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Review as of Chapter 19
The story is about a (high level) pest control man in a fantasy world. He’s been around for a while and knows all the tips and tricks of his business, and has the connections to match. The first chapter is an absolute masterpiece of fantasy low-hfy, and Zander823 has continued to build from his setup with each chapter and character we see. Just read the first chapter. That should tell you all you need to know. Definitely worth a read!
Style
Writing style is clean, no confusing sentences or skips. The story flows smoothly. Descriptions make sense and everything fits in with the world.
Story
The fantasy pest-control makes sense and is logically executed. Pacing is good, not too fast or slow. There’s a lot of references and parody (such as the League of Conspicuous Evil), but none of that detracts from the story being told or the setting. It actually helps to set a contrast to the ‘generic’ world, making it feel more realistic.
Grammar
Grammar and spelling - very few mistakes/formatting errors (I’ve spotted 14 errors and 8 recommended changes in 19 chapters, and most are almost unnoticeable). Please convey my appreciation to your editor friend. I’ve put my corrections/reccomendations in the spoiler box here.

Chapter 9
I rubbed my eye to get the -> I rubbed - OwlishRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Basic plot: a guy from Earth has made a business for himself, doing Extermination. This ranges from Giant Rats to clearing out entire dungeons so they can be restocked by the owner.
Good stuff: this is a very well written story, with characters that pop off the page. It's funny in a tongue in cheek kind of way, less ROFL, more "Heh, that was clever."
Stuff that rubs me the wrong way: the MC identifies as Asexual, but also comes across as extroverted, and very connected to lots of people. And he's in a marriage of convenience. And... other stuff. Just seems like a weird mix, that doesn't fit with anyone I know.
Bad stuff? Not really any. The English is good, maybe missed punctuation occasionally, but no problems to pull me out of the story. There's less Worldbuilding and more Scenebuilding- what exactly a snake person's wedding looks like, without much way to connect it to the rest of the world.
The Author was On Hiatus, claims he'll finish the book. I hope so.
Check it out.
