- elizzyvioletRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Pretty good story! Comedy comes from character, and I like the characters in this. I've been looking for a good litRPG story for a while and this is definitely it. The earliest chapters are probably the least interesting parts, but the dynamic between Dan and Derby was good enough to keep me reading to the good bits. I think the story gets good once Dan starts running from the horrible things lurking in the bog, and it's a *little* generic before that. And then the Moopas...
The story also captures the vibes of a deranged homebrew D&D campaign and the first 21 chapters at time of reading have more character development than all of the other litRPGs i've recently read combined. The fight scenes also manage to avoid being boring: I cheered every time Dan and/or his allies overcame something powerful.
And given the new character who was added in the last few chapters... I can definitely see a LOT of bizarre and wonderful and possibly also horrifying things happening in the future.
I found this book because of its bear-based title (i also read this because of bear-based injokes) but I think the current title and cover are superior by far. Keep writing! I'm definitely going to follow this story for a while. - SchroedingersBandRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Givin' a review to help out a fellow new author in need of attention, I know how it feels bro.
Style: The setting, well... it's a LitRPG, it works for what it is. System in place (which feels like a cross between RuneScape and D&D) isn't too complex, which I like. Makes sense without half-assing or convoluting it. 4.5/5.
Grammar: Only a very tiny amount of grammar mistakes that I could find, didn't impact my enjoyment of the story. Sentences flow well enough for me. 5/5.
Story: Story's nothing too complex yet, but hey, it's an Isekai. Kinda just flows that way when you got so much competition, and I ain't judgin' you to proper novel standards. That being said, still think it's unique and interesting enough that it's worth a shot for an aspiring reader (which I hope you'll be seeing a lot more of). 4/5.
Character: Like the title says, MC's a real idiot and CrunchBerries writes him believably dumb, but not in a cliche'd way. The other characters so far have their share of personality too, even if it's only like four so far. I think if you continue to give your important characters this kind of attention, you'll be set. 4.5/5.
Overall? 4.5/5. Definitely following to see what'cha cook up next! - Lack of PoochlineRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I picked this story for the gimmick in the previous title, and an ongoing meme about bear scenes in fantasy we have in a discord with some friends. We were astonished at the fact that this was , more than a run-out the mill litrpg, a well thought out parody that was actually enjoyable to read.
The story starts out weakly, i'd say. The beginning is the worst part of it so far, but the style was okay and this is litrpg, so i didn't come into it with high hoes for the hook. Standard get isekaied, bro. Now you are nude.
Dan is an idiot and i initially disliked him, until it became obvious this wasnt a power fantasy and that even the narrator despises Dan. What keep me going on during the firt part was Derby. Derby is a great character. He is clearly tired of his job as a noob herder and
Dan and his unequaled stupidity is the straw that breaks the wizard's back.
I like the fact that Dan isnt rewarded for being a useless idiot like in other litrpgs, and Derby plays a big role in this. He makes us see clearly that Dan is an organic idiot but the writer knows how to create other, more interesting characters. As the story advances, the deadpan parody elements become more and more evident, and as soon as a terrible trope seems to be about to sprout, it is averted.
The Moopa Discovery-kids torture village part is just a work of art regarding this. In there you notice the author let go all sort of pretension of a normal isekai and unleashed the inner shitposter. Hands down, best part so far (i have read up to chapter 17)
Story score is the lower because we dont have a sense of direction yet. He is knowing the world and , basically, lost without any interesting long-term objective.
However, if , in the future, Dan goes to the underworld and becomes doomguy to undo the Moopa Incident, or something equivalent, this will be 6 stars.
Grammar has a perfect score because i saw no glaring issues with it, just an occassional typo.
Style is not my favorite but the deadpan, third perso - ForrestRoyal Road★★★ 3.0I will give a story a couple of chapters to get past the "I am level 1 and fighting garden gnomes" stage. But this story isn't moving past that in a reasonable time. And now the MC is stuck with tele-tubbies. Sorry, but I am moving on... there is so much great content on Royalroad.
- LastSolRoyal Road★★★ 3.0I would love to rate this story accurately but there is no chapters between chapter 5 to chapter 38???
Up to chapter 4 it showed amazing potential to bad I can't read the rest. In addition the author does not post where the rest of the chapters can be acquired. Based on other reviews they were available before but currently are not my only conclusions are perhaps the author is going professional or some data loss glitch is present.
