- Luis Angel Jimenez RubioRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0the novel is great, an interesting isekai history, that desrves to have a proper ending, everyone that love magic and reincarnation novels needs to read this one, there is a lot questioning regardin what is knowledge and the roots behid magic and I found it very interesting.
- saltatlasRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Peacefulcatastrophe shows a solid talent for character in the opening chapters. Cas is shown as a very knowledgeable, relatable and slightly insufferable character in the first few paragraphs alone and provides an interesting perspective that sets this story apart from similar titles.
His first companion is less deftly handled. Her characterization being feather light in the first few chapters of her introduction, more serving as a device to transfer knowledge to Cas. I'm still very early in the story and there is plenty of time for this to be corrected, but it stands out, particulary after Cas is so well introduced.
The style is very unpolished as of now. It slips in tone between reading almost like a travel log or journal and being unfiltered train of thought. The first person perspective is leveraged to give that initial insight into Cas that makes him so compelling, but after the first chapter his thoughts and opinions on events and (especially) people around him go through a drought for the next few chapters which I found disappointing.
The introduction to the world is very meta, touching upon the common story structures and tropes that go into most isekai stories which I personally found a bit dry and distracting from the more interesting aspects of the story at hand.
The very mechanical discussion into language that followed shortly was very well done and showed a great deal of either prior mastery of the subject or dedicated research. It's very easy to see that Peacefulcatastrophe has both the love and the will to turn this story into something amazing to follow through this sequence.
5 stars for an early rating is deserved. This story stands out in only a few chapters as being something worth dedicating the time to read despite its early stumbles and flaws. - malinizgeldiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Then the spell was broken. why i liked it and why i didn't like it let's talk about it .
WHY I LOVED : the main characters are so easy to understand. It's very easy to imagine and visualize events. You can put the events in the framework of logic and there is no nonsense. The magic system is completely original and understandable (I've never come across it before). side characters were able to appeal to me. If you include yourself in the story as a third person, you can understand it better.
HY I DID NOT LIKE: There was a lot of philosophical talk and I think I started skipping these articles after the 50th episode. Around the 100th episode, I broke away from the story and jumped to the finale. The finale seemed a bit rushed, but I'm not sure because I skipped 200 CHAPTERS.
The series deserves a score of at least 4.3 on average. I don't understand why people give 3 and 2 points. - Carson6319Royal Road★★★ 3.0The works grammar and style are perfectly acceptable and as long as you like the content you should have no problem getting abosrbed into the work.
The story itself is a bit winded as there are now over 50 chapters but we have yet to get certain planned elements like kingdom building.
One of the biggests things to know about this work is that it includes philosophy. Names like Plato and Descartes are dropped and their ideas are explored under the pretext of developing a magic system based around knowledge and wisdom. I am not saying this is good or bad, its just very noticeable and takes up a solid portion of several chapters. - ChaddtsRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The writing so far has been good. The m.c was relatable at first. Then the magic system made the m.c an idiot. There is nothing "genius" about the m.c so far just someone with a talent for language and a penchant for memorizing theories ancient philosophers debated. The magic system so far (unless retroactively crippled) has let the m.c's potential fall flat. A high-school chad bro could do better with basic knowledge than the supposed genuis has so far. The book is trying far too hard to be deep ,and it just isn't. The story had far more potential and it was squandered. Due to an overpowered magic system needing to nerfed by making the m.c shortsighted and narrow minded. For the sake of tension.
- MarcogrecRoyal Road★★★ 3.0To be honest i don't know if the athour actually has fun writing anymore. Until chap 100 we have Noel one of the MC and the only character that keeps the novel real in any way then the author decided you know what let's make her vanish (not gonna spoil if you ever wanna read) i tryed to keep on reading but the novel kept on beeing more absurd so a 5 star until chap 100 as of chap 145 the author clearly has no clue what to do with the story anymore sadly (cause I was enjoying the story quite much)
Author if you ever read plese let me know why you decided to do what you did with Noel............... - hakatri ginRoyal Road★★★ 3.0My first indication of so-so-ness came when the MC spent a decent amount of time trying to decipher an ancient text, only for it to not matter right immediately
I guess thats the feeling this gives me, that there is so much room for error and exploration, that it doesnt matter if things go slow or wrong
Webnovels tend to become meandering if there is not a clear goal, a personal one at the very least, and, even if this novel has a goal, it hasnt show so far
At chapter 16 not really much has happened, and with this speed it will take a while for it to happen
I feel like we are seeing a realistic exploration of a world... down to large amounts of irrelevant downtime of daily life
Sometimes more is less - rgreadsRoyal Road★★★ 3.0But I'm curious to find out! That deserves a 5 star review for a good initial hook, solid grasp of grammar and spelling, with coherent dialogue and storytelling while we see what develops.
A college student who enjoys learning everything (but nothing too hard!) gets isakai-ed into a tribe of early Stone Age elves, with a mysterious transformation into a loincloth-wearing elf at the same time.
How early? Lower Paleothic, 2-3 million years ago. Just barely learning how to use little chips of stone. Hopefully he's a fan of Primitive Technology YouTube videos or true survival camping, because otherwise making the tools to make the tools to do anything is harder than it looks.
On the plus side, there may be some magic left in this world... - StillnessRoyal Road★★★ 2.5I am 100% down for a magical paleolithic story, which makes it disappointing to me that this one missed the mark. The only thing this story has going for it is the mystery. A lot of the supernatural stuff isn't explained in any depth and the hope that I'll learn more is the only engaging part.
The main issue for me is that the MC doesn't have any personal stake in this new world. Upon appearing in the new world, he immediately meets an elf child named Noel who he become friends with. She isn't that interesting, but he helps her out so she'll take him to her tribe. At no point has this story made me feel like anyone was in any danger of dying and the MC just kinda goes with the flow. The tribe doesn't seem to have much narritive importance, like even without them he'd be fine. He should at least have some culture shock, but nothing.
There are many small things that bug me, but it boils down to the fact that nothing in the story really feels meaningful and real to me. - ddz1rtRoyal Road★★ 2.0Reading this feels wrong. Starting from first chapter. Unpleasant even. If you compare this to Mother of Learning or He Who Fights Monsters where most chapters feel fluid, adventure interesting, this particular novel lacks such fluidness.
MC is some kind of genius but reading even first chapter that statement seems very questionable. Reading more into story it becomes obvious he is no genius at all.
Transmigration is barely touched at all but it is not really important, still leaves a big plot hole.
First arc as I'd name it doesn't stand any logical reasoning despite a lot of name dropping from ancient philosophers and people who are known for critical thinking. It makes reading even more uncomfortable. I am, personally, annoyed. I have more questions after reading each new paragraph and they just keep bottling. Unlike reading mindless Jim Butcher stories this story has no constant motion to ease all the thinking reading sets you up for.
Mystical nature of this world seems interesting but not explored. Magical theory is biggest selling point of this novel.
Characters are lacking. Empty and barely fit any reasonable explanation. It would be better to setup Robinson Crusoe type of situation and don't bother with other intelligent beings.
