Description

****REWRITING****

"Here at Esoteric, we’ve spent years conducting research on how to best improve the human race. We tried everything from surveys, sleep studies and physical endurance tests to directly probing at the brains of our subjects and watching the reactions. But unfortunately, our efforts were futile, and we didn’t see any signs of evolution in our subjects. We were still left without an answer to our main concern: how are we supposed to evolve the human race?

I wouldn’t find the answer until I discovered a wonderful piece of fictive work that dates back to the 1700s: The Elementals of Mejivan.

Of course, any type of fiction is not at all a credible source for research. However, I believed this piece was only categorized as fiction because the techniques and experiments were something that were unheard of in that century. But nearly 400 years later? With our advances in technology, science, and medicine, those practices are very much doable.

So how do we improve humans? When I put the pieces together, it was obvious! The next step for humans is to become superhumans!"

A bruised and battered boy wakes up with no recollection of his identity or past, only to find out he's one of the newest walking science experiments who are training their newfound abilities, Flairs.

Things are looking up, and it seems like the story is slowly upping the ante. The story itself is cool and the author is delivering in terms of quality and quantity. No really robotic interactions, and the author seems to be staying, so far, out of common failings of Royal Road fics. Grammar doesn't really matter to me, but for those it does, I haven't been able to find any obvious errors that really disturb the experience. We'll have to see if they keep going after writathon, but for now, the book seems great and we're still getting our chapters. 4.5/5 for me.
If you can't tell, I'm not great at reviews 😅

Interesting so far, with the mystery growing every chapter, and the stakes appearing to rise. The premise is very interesting, and the atmosphere seems well put together and suits the theme of the story so far. The characters seem distinct from eachother and I want to see how the mc matures and develops as a character, as unlike the others, I'm not really sure what his personality really is yet. Keep up the good work, and I'm excited for what's to come.

Excellent start. A little cheesy at times, but the tone holds well overall. The addition of Nurse Ratchet Brigg, though, felt ridiculously over the top. Like, Shonen villian overdone. Their appearance and actions breaks what was otherwise a great opportunity for tension and was so jarring I couldn't finish the chapter. The story would greatly improve with this character being rewritten to be a little more grounded in reality.
