EPITAPH

A former astrobiologist who knows with certainty that humanity will destroy itself dedicates himself to the creation and installation of an epitaph summarizing humanity's achievements and downfall for a future sentient species to find and learn from. Millions of years in the future, a species indeed arises on Earth, discovers where the epitaph is located, and races to recover it, only to discover once found that they too are following the same destructive path.
