Description
What does it mean to be a hero? And a hero to who anyway?
Ethan Gambrils is just an ordinary guy trying to escape his rather dull existence.Until a portal opens to a different world. A world that’s brand new, but also similar to the RPG he spent so many hours playing at home.
So now he'll have to rescue the kingdom and defeat the evil sorceressfor real.
But how can he become a hero? And what sort of hero should he be? Maybe he'll be an all-powerful battlemage who can sweep away his foes with the flick of a finger. Or maybe he's the type who can pick-up a hot elf princess at an underground goblin restaurant. Maybe he'll be both these things. Or maybe he'll become something else entirely.
I guess there’s only one way to find out…
Enter the Hero is an epic Isekai LitRPG inspired by popular Bioware games but with more humor and less inventory/stat management. If that sounds appealing to you then I’d love to have you read it.
Updates Tuesday and Thursday. Please see my Patreon if you would like to support the story and read advance chapters. I appreciate whatever you give. Thanks for reading!

- keeganashleyliveRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Do you like humor in your reads? Because, if you do, this story is for you. The humor and casual writing style made this one a pure joy to read. I didn't just swipe that five-star review without thinking; I really pondered it for a minute and, honestly, I'm not finding a place to dock any points.
The main character is instantly likeable. He's hilarious with great quips inserted at the perfect times to create hilarity or, at least, an amused chuckle. He’s, also, the right mix of fear and bravery. Additionally, there's this issue of darkness in his skill level which is so intriguing.
The world the author has built is both creative and fun---I mean, the MC can talk to his horse! It's a fun, wild ride, and there's plenty of action and suspense. I really couldn't see any reason for anything less than five stars in the 'character' and 'story' areas.
There are no glaring grammatical errors, and the reading experience is quite flowing and humorous. I loved it. ...So, no points to take off there either.
Really, if you're looking for an easy-to-read fantasy experience with LitRPG vibes and a humorous MC, look no further. You've got it all right here. - JBearRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I've read a ton of Isekai genre web novels, and this one clearly breaks the mold that the genre is imfamous for. The main character, Ethan, is not some overpowered character who has a flat personality or is fawned over by heroines for no reason, he is just a normal, relatable guy who just wants to make a difference with the abilities he has to work with. His references to modern world things makes you relate to him more.
On a character standpoint, the author did really well to distinguish each character through dialogue. Each of them has their respective voices, with Tinny being sassy, and the dynamic between Charles and Mary being quite endearing.
Speaking of dialogue, this is probably the writer's biggest strength in my humble opinion. It flows well, and the quippy one liners that are scattered throughout the chapters are quite memorable and work really well! Although I gave the style score a 4/5 due to there still being a bit of a lack of environmental descriptions.
I gave story a 4/5 too due to the pace being way quicker than I anticipated. It especially shows in the training scene where the MC describes the entire training with Darren in only a paragraph or two (if I remember correctly). Other than that the plot moves smoothly, and it makes sense! There's a clear goal established, and the author makes sure that each scene is essential to that progressing plot!
Although I thought Darren died too quick after being introduced. I literally did a double take when he was shown to be dead, as if saying "Already?!"
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys the Isekai/fantasy genre. It has some of the same tropes, but elevates them to a standard that is quite enjoyable! It takes itself seriously and is not just copypaste of other works in the genre. Ethan's remarks make me chuckle! - Semo HunterRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The story revolves around an ordinary dude thrust into the role of a leader and hero, and how he advances in power while trying to handle that responsibility.
In the area of style, the author needs to develope. While conversations and character descriptions. are handled remarkably well, the author still needs to work on descriptions of the characters surroundings. 4/5
For grammar, there are some infrequent, minor issues that will not affect a readers enjoyment of the story in any way. 4.5/5
The story, while not totally unique, has an interesting spin on it that makes it one-of-a-kind. The character isn't inherently a good fighter, so we see him actually struggling in situations and sometimes failing rather then "Summoning the will power" or some such excuse for overcoming a challenge.
The character is the part that makes this story truley enjoyable. From his great sense of humor to is uncertainty of his place in the world, we can really realate to the character while still getting plenty of laughs out of his internal dialouge and the situations he gets himself into. Seriously, the guys crazy funny.
Overall, this is a book that focuses on action and humor. If you like those things, then I would definitally recomend it. If gritty exploration or gory trials are more up your alley, go look somewhere else. - Wilhelm DuyRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The story takes a hilarious spin out of the familiar trope of the chosen one. The main character is suddenly selected by an angel named "angel" and given a system because of being the chosen one. Now Ethan has to handle being the said "hero".
I was laughing nonstop when I read how unimpressed King Leo mentioned the prophecy and looked back at Ethan
