EMPATHY

1987, Ivanovo. Four-year-old Misha is placed in the care of his neighbor, Lydia Nikolaevna, after his mother leaves the country. Lydia, a lonely woman, agrees to take care of the boy but soon encounters his introversion. Having endured a childhood tragedy, Misha is withdrawn, lost in his own world and memories. His only joy comes from watching a construction site and his interactions with Sergey, a boy from the neighboring building.

When Lydia falls ill and is hospitalized, Misha is left alone. Sergey and his father, Vladimir, notice Misha’s difficult situation and decide to help. Welcomed into his friend’s warm and caring family, Misha begins to feel the kindness and attention he’s been missing. However, the fear of being abandoned again continues to haunt him.

This is a story about childhood trauma, loneliness, and the healing power of human kindness. Surrounded by the care of his new family, little Misha learns to trust others, discovering a world where warmth and compassion can mend even the deepest wounds.
