- CloudfallRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a brilliant post apocalyptic litrpg novel. This type of novel can sometimes be difficult to write properly, but the author did justice to the chapters I've read so far.
Style — The chapters are written in a third person narration that kept me entertained. With vivid descriptions and great word choices, the story was easy to follow and provided an immersive experience. Truly, the imagery was there and effective.
Story — With 8 chapters so far, this story managed to build a fantastic world based on litrpg fantasy. It's certainly obvious that their are stakes at hand, when it comes to the Dark Beings, monsters from an alien world. Very impressed with the worldbuilding so far; settings, and the characters. So far, not heavy on the blue boxes which pointed to the epicness of this book. A good setting can be hard to achieve in litrpg stories as such, so props to the author for executing it so nicely!
Grammar — Excellent. No noticeable error that could affect the flow of the novel.
Character — The characters are well developed and written. There are focuses on different characters which work very well with the type of novel. The characters are all engaging, and you can tell the author is dedicating great effort and time to design the characters. Each of them feels distinct and real. Especially between William and Luke. Great job on this.
Overall — A well written and memorable litrpg story. Highly recommend! - Josh WellsRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Overall: This is a strong recomendation. The novel, while not perfect, is a riveting piece of text that kept me on the edge of my seat.
Story: While still fresh in its development I can see a marvelous story beginning to unfold and I am quite keen to see where it goes. The story has done well to establish various plot points that I can see being discovered and expanded on in the novels future. This story could really be something special if it continues to do all these things right.
Style: Style here is my main concern. The descriptions are great, the imagery even more so. However...some of the sentences tend to read a little odd and not flow. When I say this is specifically refer to the opening paragraph of the story. While I understand what was trying to be done here, I believe it could be phrased better. Despite this concern, the style only gets better from here. The sentences pack enough of a punch to be emotionally influential and engaging while remaining concise, yet not losing any description. Overall very well done.
Grammar: Grammar gets a 5/5. No issues at all. Very well done.
Character: William is a likeable enough character. Some of his observations and thoughts can come across as a bit out of line with his character at times though - whether that be from too much telling and not enough showing, I'm not sure. Just small things like "That is incredibly unbelievable to him." feel a little jarring, though admittedly that is being a tough critic. If I am to be straight, the character that is Wiliam has a long ways to go in his development yet I the author certainly has enough skill to make his development journey something quite entertaining. - MirkwoodRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I liked the story due to it presenting a post apocalyptic landscape where humanity struggles to survive amidst monstrous threats. The narrative follows William, a teenage orphan thrust into the role of a Walker, tasked with confronting these creatures.
Initially, the story's pace feels really sluggish almost to the extent of the first two arcs that feel like its still part of the introduction, prompting moments of doubt about its direction and questions If I should continue reading. However, as the plot unfolds it gains momentum, revealing a captivating world filled with intricate details and high stakes. The vivid descriptions and third-person narration make for an immersive reading experience, despite the very slow start.
The characters, particularly William, are gradually fleshed out, with attention to detail and development that enriches the narrative. The diverse cast adds depth to the story, showcasing the author's dedication to crafting realistic personalities.
Despite occasional language choices that feel unfamiliar, the storytelling style offers a unique perspective, blending elements of Eastern and Western norms. This fusion brings refreshing surprises and enhances the overall appeal of the novel.
Overall iy emerges as a wel -written litrpg adventure blending all the wanted fantasy elements with post apocalyptic themes. While the beginning may test ones patience, worldbuilding and character dynamics ultimately make it a compelling read. And I hope the author continues with the story - A V DalcourtRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Story: Earth has been ravaged by some terrible monsters, rendering humanity to pockets of survivors. Humanity has entered into a Dark Age as they consume the last vestiges of the world as we know it, and gradually lose our history and culture to the beasts. Our MC, William, survives a monster attack and ends up taken in by an orphanage – several over the period of his short life – and we rejoin him when he’s 15. When a soldier retrieves the teenage William for his induction as a Walker, William has to make some choices that may change the course of his life.
Character: As of chapter one we’re following orphan William, a teenage ‘walker’ that’s likely going to follow in his father’s legacy and train up as a monster killer. Very little about William himself is revealed. At this time, he’s in a whirlwind of change, spawning nothing but emotional confusion. But one thing I know for sure is that he feels burdened by his ability to become a Walker at all.
Style: The story set in a post-apocalyptic Earth, set in North America, in the writer’s first attempt at the Grim Dark sub-genre. Written in 3rd person present tense, an unusual choice, but not a bad one. There are several temporary POV’s but for the most part we follow an inquisitive William. Another thing to note that the story telling style feels very Eastern, so some of the word choices and terminology feels oddly put together. As a result some of the character motivations feels a little outside of Western norms, which creates a sort refreshing take which opens us up to surprises we would otherwise have taken for granted.
Grammar: This is the writer’s weak-point. There are several clues that English is not the author’s first language, so being bold enough to put something like this out there is commendable and extremely ambitious. In other fictions, I often see non-native English writing authors expect a certain amount of leniency as a result, but not this one. Not once did they apologize, as though understanding tha - pdf2803Royal Road★★ 2.0I tried to read the first 10 chapters but I failed... english being my first language made it so that as I read through the chapters I kept having to stop due to the amount of mistakes the author made:( I would really like to enjoy this novel but I'm just unable to read through the chapters so I ask that the author would please go through the chapters and correct the mistakes. THANKS:)
