Elf Girl [A Non-OP Progression Fantasy Adventure]
Community Rating
Description
Keira should’ve said no to the elf ears—or at least paid more attention to her character build.
Instead, she entered a high fantasy pop-up experience with no idea how immersive it would become.
Now, her costume elf ears are real and she's the newest—and least prepared—first level ranger in Qeth: a land of long-dead dragons and fading magic. To return to her reality, she must join a party of wannabe adventurers and level up. But starter quests won’t last forever, and as Keira and her new party gradually grow their skills—and their bond—they discover a long-lost secret that could send this idyllic fantasy realm into chaos.
What you can expect:* A light-hearted comfortable feel as friends confront increasing stakes together* Kind heroes who are trying to do good things for the (mostly) right reasons* Soft LitRPG: a facilitating [System] in the background, but not a focal point* D&D style adventuring with building action & intensity as they level* Flawed, non-OP protagonist* Slow-burn romance* Queer representation
Updates will be 1x a week on Wednesday mornings, PST. I'm trying to get back up to twice a week, but this has been an awful year.

- worryinglyIntoIsekaiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Isekai Lit RPG is a pretty busy genre. It's all been done. Nothing in this story is particularly unique. That said, it reads very well, progresses nicely. And when it went inactive, I was very disappointed. I hope this gets picked up again because I enjoyed it so far.
I think it was perhaps a little slow. There were sections that could have been removed to streamline, but it had a kind of life, life meandering element that was very readable. - DorinosRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0TLDR; Main character slowly adapts to a rich world filled with good friends and mysteries to uncover.
Style - The story is told from a first person perspective with a good flow. Plenty of descriptions to paint the scene while not being overtop, and our main character's lack of confidence portray her perspective in a unique subtle way.
Grammar - I don't recall a single mistake, but I also binged up to the 29th chapter as of this review so mistakes may have been edited.
Story - The story takes place primarily in Qeth, an enclosed nation where the main character finds her group quite quickly in the middle of a city invasion. There's plenty of lore that is teased with bits and pieces, and I can't wait to learn more about the timeline of this world.
The combat is concise and engaging. The author does a good job of portraying the adrenaline rush one would feel during a life or death battle. It's a messy thing and although our main character is typically in the back lines, her bowmanship is just as important as the rest of the cast's abilities.
Character - Kiera is a good main character. While at first she was convinced this whole thing is a dream, she's slowly coming to the realization that her situation is very much real. She's a worry-wart, but that's to be expected giving her situation and lack of knowledge with everything. My only complaint is I hope she goes to a library soon and catches up on the lore, but in the recent chapters she did mention doing this!
The supporting cast is also just as equally intriguing. Everyone seems to show more depth than meets the eyes, and I appreciate the queer representation (hopeful for more!). - Major VexRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0So far so good. A non-OP MC in a D&Dish live action fantasy world. So few of these now a days. Not long enough yet for me to give a full review but I hope the story gets more attention.

Thanks for story. - Toby ZieglerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This engaging story feels like what being pushed unexpectedly into a fantasy world would be like for most of us: It's one thing to fantasize about, and an entirely different thing to actually experience.
Keira is real, pragmatic and astute, and is a joy to watch as she interacts with this decidedly not illusionary dangerous new world. While the story has yet to stray far from the zapped into the video game genre, it does have the twist of only Keira experiencing the game notifications. For everyone else, it is just the everyday reality we all know, like it or not.
If you like fantasy isekai at all, this is definitely recommendable and enjoyable. - Ailish MauraRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story has well developed character dynamics and interesting world building. The main character is pretty relatable too, in my opinion. I just finished reading all the chapters in a few days and can't wait for the next entry.
I'm really enjoying the ride and the mysteries are super interesting. - Reader1587Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0An office worker visits a game presentation and gets a VIP experience package as a favor from her friend.
The attending clerk talked her into trying a hunter elf girl character.
After suddenly getting transported into a fantasy game, Keira accidentally joins a group of budding adventurers.
Here end all the similarities with other stories. Each and every teammate has their own agenda, goals and backstory. There appears to be a political power play in the background with several opposing parties and factions. The protagonist does not have any cheating powers and must slowly develop her own abilities. Moreover, she is ridiculously unprepared for this situation.
Glad this is not like average Japanese light novels where the foolishly naive hero blabbers about their background, powers and everything to the first half trustworthy person they meet in the second chapter.
I am reviewing this after reading chapter 51 and trust among team mates is still slowly developing. They trust each other in fighting but not with their goals, ambitions and backstories.
LitRPG elements are present, but used sparingly. The heroine definitely has to work hard for any upgrades and the effects of ranking up are tangible without flooding the entire pages with stats and numbers.
I will be looking forward to where this story is going on and eagerly awaiting any new chapter. - Samwise_BansheeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I absolutely LOVE a good portal fantasy and this one had me hooked from the very beginning!
The setting is great (classic D&D vibes) and the main character's voice feels really authentic and genuine. I'm really exicted to see where her story goes (along with the rest of her rag-tag group of adventuering friends). - Tavi_ScipioRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Fun RPG, fish out of water/not-my-genre story. Great pacing and banter with the team as they get to know one another. I'm surprised that this is the only story the author has on here. Glad I found this title. I hope for many more chapters to read and adventure along with this group.
- Olivia Astoria-LivTheTransLifeRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5A typical story, but we’ll written without going over board. It has some pros and cons but overall I found the experience enjoyable. The characterization, grammar, and world building are all great. But the flow of combat, pacing, and story itself are rather lacking imo.
each of the main characters have specific and consistent personalities, while having their own motivations and ways of speaking. They’re clear separation between each in the mind of the author and it bleeds into the story. This characterization is done well enough that I’d read a slice of life based on it alone.
I’ve had no issues with grammar or spelling. Sentences make sense, paragraphs follow logic, and the writing itself is easy to understand.
The world building is fine. I wish there was a bit more description about what the actual city structure is like: stone works, wood, etc. But I like that the author doesn’t overly describe the setting either. There’s enough hinted in the background that the world feels alive.
the combat is my biggest gripe with this story and it’s something most authors struggle with. I believe there’s too much focus on minute details at first, but the author soon separates that entirely and leaves the combat lacking description. I’m not sure if it’s aversion to gore or what. But it definitely needs some work from a readers perspective.
the pacing of the story is find for a slice of life, but it swings from slow to fast with no middle ground.
the story is acceptable if a bit basic, but I think the main focus of this tale is the characters and their interaction with one another, so I’m willing to give it a pass. - Slightly_MorbidRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5It is hard to review a book from just the first few chapters, so what I write should be taken with a pinch of salt. Otherwise, from we have as yet, the book follows a fairly standard route of LitRPG with system of classes, levels, attributes skills and abilities. The setting is also a standard fantasy setting with elves, orks and dwarves and monsters such as goblins and giant spiders.
With nothing really sticking out, there's also nothing sticking out in a really negative way. The MC might be a bit naive, asking questions she should have known and it's never (as yet!) explained how she gets into the fantasy world. But she is friendly and not as annoying or sociopathic as many LitRPG heroes tend to be. Her team are also nice with a good natured banter, without getting into smart alec smirking territory. The only thing that doesn't really fit in is why the MC isn't freaking out over her situation, wondering about friends or family or worry more about how to get back/wake up and more. I would be a lot more nervous with all the uncertainty of where she even is.
However, as this seems to be created as a light comfort reading, I'm okay with. Not everything needs to be traumatic or gritty. I will follow it a bit more in hope of the system getting a bit more inventive and for some development outside the beaten track, but it is kind of nice as it is. If I hadn't already read so many other backs in the same vein, I would most likely been satisfied with this. So something for newer readers or those who just want to relax a bit.
