Dying Rebirth

The apocalypse happened, the lucky billions died quickly, and the few million left struggled to survive in a dark and desolate world.  I have watched them struggle and sometimes even I must turn away, but a hero of humanity is about to die. I can no longer remain just an observer.  I can save this hero if I accept the cost and the responsibility of a dying world.

If it was a simple choice of their decline or salvation I would not hesitate to enact this Rebirth device. This misappropriated system designed for birthing dungeon worlds is definitely not a great fix for this dying planet, but it could work to turn it around. If it wasn't for the Legion eventually learning of this and coming to collect what is theirs by rights of power of might.

This world, if I go through with this crazy temptation, will be forced into an eternity of warfare, and even I a peaceful watcher can tell that humanities little fifty year world war has driven most of these humans into apathy.  This will allow the heroes left to gain power but it will also allow the monsters to grow as well, and once given can not be taken back.

I have decided to let the dyeing hero make the choice...
