As Travis, a former Army Intel Officer, sits on his couch after work a strange man knocks on his door. After some commotion Travis gets his package. Inside is what looks like a normal gym bag, though with no markings on it, and a leather-bound journal. Neither item seems to be remarkable until he notices his name embossed on the cover, with the words "Main Character" underneath.

He opens it up to see that someone has really put a lot of thought into this. It not only marks him down as the MC but has a list of his attributes and on subsequent pages there are 'skills' he apparently has. Luckily or unluckily, he wasnt sure, but the 'magic' section was blank. Now Travis is no gamer and has no familiarity with the lingo, no less the rules of an RPG. So, when he sees that this journal is a magic item, growth item and a bound item it doesn't mean much to him.

Soon after he turns on the TV to see that a series of natural disasters is laying waste to huge swatches of the country, the USA, and the world. As if things haven't been strange already, he hears a ping which leads him to the 'missions' page of his new magic journal. Okay this is just weird now, because there is a mission for him to leave his home city of Philadelphia and go to what the book refers to as a safe zone.

Then a timer that was on the page starts ticking down... ok WTF is going on?

Join Travis as he tries to figure out what is going on. He was chosen as the MC for a reason. Travis is known for being one of the coolest customers under pressure, so the DM, yes there is a DM, wanted him as his lead player in what is basically a hobby for the entity that can control our earth as he please.

Nope you read that right, I said "our" earth, which means there are others. Who is this DM, why does he have power over us, why are there other earths and what is the deal with this game? Those are questions that will remain a mystery to both our MC and you the reader. As you read look for clues and easter eggs which unlock the puzzle, or wait for Travis and his trusty companion Clyde to figure it out!

I think this story provides some insight as to how most of us would react during a catastrophic event. Not as the MC, but as the general populace as a whole. People will panic and others will take advantage of said panic. Only a few people would willingly go through what Travis goes through at the beginning and have the courage to face it all calmly. I'm truly rooting for him in what essentially appears to be a death game.
Overall, a great story.

What I like in this story of our world becoming a video game-like is the settings become realistic, and easy to imagine.
The story is not rushed, but there's still a lot happening so I think the pacing is ok. Except for a few typos, and different tenses here and there, I hadn't seen a lot of grammar mistakes. The characters are well written. Their strengths and flaws make them relatable considering most of them are humans. MC is a cool guy and I'd like to see him in action for the rest of the story. Only slight problem I encountered is the POV change, as it's not 3rd person limited, multiple POV can make the story a bit complicated. On the other hand, it can also give more information about what's happening in the story, I hope the author can execute it without being confusing.
I'd recommend reading it for the nice realistic story.

I must say this is a great read. Each chapter has its own unique meaning and makes the story stronger as you go on. Following along with Travis makes you realize how some people deal with catastrophes in life. This is a great read for those who believe in other powers out there and are into mystery’s. Will be looking forward to more stories !

If you like reality and fantasy, then this is for you. It starts off with a relatively normal day for the main character Travis. A knock at the door, a shoe box and a mysterious journal turns his day into anything but typical. It brings you on a roller coaster of creatures and dodging bullets. It kept me engaged, and I look forward to continuing the journey with Travis and friends.
