Dungeon Core Abi
Community Rating
Description
Abi awoke, not to the warmth of a lover's embrace, but to the cold, echoing stillness of stone. Gone was her human form, replaced by the thrumming, raw power of a Dungeon Core. Betrayed by fate—or perhaps a mischievous god—she's trapped, a sentient heart of stone, with only her snarky, system-spawned companion, Me, for company.
Forget soft skin and whispered promises; Abi's new reality is a labyrinth of pulsing energy and the daunting task of mastering her newfound existence. The System, a capricious force, throws curveball after tantalizing curveball, testing her limits and hinting at a deeper, more seductive mystery. What divine hand twisted her destiny into this alluring, yet perilous, form? And why does the very essence of her being hum with a primal, captivating energy?
With only 24 hours until her dungeon awakens, Abi must navigate a treacherous landscape of hidden powers and potential invaders. Every pulsing vein of her core whispers promises of power, but also warns of looming threats. Can she harness her raw, untamed essence in time? Will she unravel the secrets that bind her to this stone prison, this intoxicating new reality?
The clock is ticking, and Abi's transformation is just beginning. Prepare to be ensnared by the seductive pull of her dungeon, where danger and desire intertwine, and every shadow holds a tantalizing secret.

Mmm. Flavour text.
Real Note:
I'm rewriting the main story with current chapters being released sporadically for the time being. That means barely as I smash out my past mistakes.
Abi apologises in advance.

- NorthernWardenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Well worth reading for a fun time with great characters and excellent pacing. This story really captures the wondrous curiosity of a new world. All the characters feel very real and all the motivations and actions make sense. It really balances having fun exciting moments without needing anyone to hold the idiot ball. I'm really looking forward to seeing where this tale goes next!
- EiferRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is probably one of the strangest and least dungeon-like dungeon stories I've ever read. It reads more like a city builder.
While it is indeed strange, it is very entertaining and mostly casual with some pretty damn wholesome stuff sprinkled here and there.
Fair warning though. The Traumatising Content tag is there for a good reason. Just as the story have wholesome interactions sprinkled through it, so does it have some pretty brutal chapters. - John DoveyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It is exactly what you might expect from the title, a human dungeon core.
For those who like the genre, this is a nice straightforward example with a lokeable MC and witty prose.
At this stage the dungeon is still being built, so how it all plays out is still up in the air.
Decent spelling and grammar. - Ellen TaylorRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This was fun. I really liked the snarky interactions between Abi and Me, and I low key love that she named the AI Me, because I do that in practically every video game I play.
I didn't give a full 5 stars for grammar, because I'm assuming I only do that if the grammar is flawless, and I saw maybe one or two mistakes, which I probably should have pointed out, come to think of it. It certainly didn't distract from the overall story.
Style was at four stars, because while I read it I kept wanting there to be some sort of distinction between when Abi is specifically talking to Me, and when she has her own personal thoughts. I know Me can practically hear everything she says, so simple quotations wouldn't work, but it would have been nice to have that distinction. I just don't have a suggestion. Maybe italics for directly talking?
I like the story, but it's currently at four star because I was really interested in the backstory of Abi and her friends, and there didn't seem to be a ton yet in the chapters I read. Hopefully there will be more.
Overall, a good read. - Bluelightning42Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is a weird review because I find it hard to articulate what dungeon core Abi does well...but there is something and if I could just find it this review would be perfect.
I have a soft spot for dungeon core novels and this ones no different. It has a bunch of tropes I don't like but it uses them well and it does an equal number of things I like that I keep reading.
It's doing something right, It really is. I just can't put my finger on what that something is and it's driving me insane. The grammar is fine. The style is easy to read. The story is...okay. There isn't really a overacing plot focus but thats okay. The characters are well put together and while some of the banter or dialogue seems weird, it's entertaining.
I do like this story and recommend it to any who like the genre. - Prism HeartRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Very good story so far. It could use a read over about every dozen chapters or so to catch any typos. There are some people who might argue for different pacing but I find it to be fair. Please keep up the good work. I end this review with these words to fill the minimum quota.
- usotsukiRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Kinda like a lower quality (story wise) version of There is no Epic Loot here, Only Puns. (there are a lot of similarities)
It's just op mc gathering resources and slice of life because any danger is deleted and any casualties get revived. There's not much explanation as to how mc is so op either: characters level up faster than anyone else, the people of this world are abnormally weak or something.
Screw politics, let's just brute force everything kind of story
Let's not even think at all and only do fun stuff and leave boring stuff to other people
Tldr it's just op mc doing op things with no explanation as to why mc is op. If u like u like if u don't like c'est la vie - VoxolRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0At the beginning of the story things are a bit wonky, the whole beginning of Abi's dungeon is carried by a gacha system which while it helps the story along its a bit awkward.
Overall the story is pretty decent and the characters gain more personality as the story progresses.
The main issue with the story that's keeping a 5 star review is the power scaling, its one of the worst I've seen, there is usually a rough estimate of power in different novels that you can visualise but here its all over the place, up to the latest chapters its near impossible to understand the general power system, people at high levels seem completely overpowered or completely useless. - KaptinKyleRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5An alright dungeon core story. As of this review, I've finished the first book ending on chapter 23. I'll update things as I continue.
Style: The story is fairly well told. Occasional flashbacks and interludes show us what's going on outside of the MC's head, and the writing keeps the story moving fluidly.
Grammar: I think I noticed a few slips, but no specifics are coming to mind at the moment.
Story: This is where the ratings start to suffer. The MC is reincarnated as a dungeon core, apparently the only intelligent core in history, and immediately gets hilariously lucky on a gacha purchase and figures out a cheat option to advance herself hundreds of times faster than "should" be possible. All that combines to rub me the wrong way, and thus far the story hasn't done anything sufficiently interesting to make up for it. Additionally, some elements of the world-building strike me as inconsistent.
Characters: Frankly, I dislike pretty much all of them. The MC comes across as flighty and unfocused. Her "assistant" vacillates between being a non-character computer program, a jerk, and having my sympathy for having to put up with the MC. The various monsters, when they get any characterization, are slavishly devoted to their creator and not particularly interesting in and of themselves. Lastly, every single male character who isn't a created slave of the MC is a cartoonishly evil murderer and/or rapist. - ThousandOdysseysRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Reading this, I got the distinct impression that it is a fanfic of There Is No Epic Loot Here, Only Puns by Stewart92
Only this story utilises a “and they’re all evil, watch what evil they do!!” approach to justify the dungeon being a dungeon and eating people.
Abi the Core is interesting and generally a fun vibe. Her interactions with Me, her system, are reminiscent enough of Delta with her Nu, that nostalgia alone kept me engaged for a while.
Most chapters start with a gruelling several paragraph long alternate POV. Most of the time showing how evil and deserving to die the character is. With just enough plot relevance that I never quite felt like I could skip those horrific scenes.
The idea behind her main monster type is unique and fresh enough that my curiosity towards their development kept me reading awhile longer. However, Abi just keeps making more and more. After awhile a story needs more to it then, “Yep! New features, new mobs!”
Also, the hyper-Xualisation of everything and everything is getting old.
As far as Grammar is concerned, I can only say that there are missing words and truncated sentences fairly frequently.
Example; What I by that is something
Overall
This is an ok attempt at a Dungeon Core story.
