Duality Dissonance

Envy is one of the winged warriors living in the sparsely inhabited world—or what remains of it. Humanity’s architecture and made things continue to sink into the ever-expanding swamp while Envy focuses on discovering how it all came to this. The world is dying, or so Envy is told, and it’s their responsibility to save what they can. Envy gets pulled into the conflict by some of the other warriors, informed that their only option is to destroy the mysterious Yoi, which seems to be syphoning the world’s remaining life.

While the group tries to carve a place for their world’s future, Envy continues to focus on discovering its past. Something is causing rifts to open in their world, causing other worlds to meld with theirs for a time, where foreign worlds mean foreign creatures. Destroying the Yoi is supposed to have a positive effect on the rifts but as Envy gets involved in removing them, he starts to wonder if their actions are for the better.  When a stranger joins them, Envy begins to question everything he thought he knew and soon finds himself against opponents that are a little too familiar.
