Dr. Hal Ramsey is secretly working on a unique technology which would enhance the unaffected brain functions of those who have brain damage or trauma. The morality of his experiments does not assuage him; he will soon, however, become legally blind.

A young girl in a small town in the most daunting case Hal has ever encountered. He brings her to his makeshift operating room, but trouble follows, as does someone unexpected, offering him a new option for his research.

Desperate, Hal considers the unthinkable. But time is running out, and the secret to his "enhancements" could fade with his eyesight if he doesn't make a breakthrough. The way is clear.
