(DROPPED) A Spirit Vein's Guide to Immortality
Community Rating
Description
TL;DR Synopsis: Man dies from falling banana, gets interrogated but answers vaguely, suffers consequences
Actual synopsis:Spirit veins. Many consider them to be the pillar on which the world of cultivation is built. These things served as the foundation for the first few realms that would allow humanity to achieve its everlasting dream of immortality. However, in the present age, these pockets of condensed energy only exist to be under the foundations of massive organizations, fostering a new generation of fighters while passively radiating the energy they contain.
Nevertheless, spirit veins are still an important element in the world of cultivation, albeit much less so. With that in mind, have you ever considered what it would be like for someone to turn into a spirit vein?
No? Well, Arthur never thought about it either.
Going through the usual reincarnation schtick (if one could consider it usual), Arthur was eventually brought into a place where a god asked him where he would like to be reborn. Unsurprisingly, Arthur told the god his ideal rebirth.
However, soon enough, he would come to realize that he should have been more specific with it. Now being reborn as the smallest spirit vein, or if you could even consider him a spirit vein, Arthur wondered what he could do other than wait for time to consume him…and that’s where the system came in.
With it, he would experience multiple stories of hardships, adventure, romance, and action…all underground.
Unless…?
Do keep in mind that English is not my first language, so I would like to apologize in advance if there are any grammatical errors, typos, miscalculations and so on. In fact, I'd highly appreciate it if you tell me those mistakes. Also, this story focuses quite a lot on the gradual progression of the MC at the beginning, but in the long run, upgrading sprees would probably be more common. Thanks for reading this small note!

- flooper212Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Unique concept and amazing delivery. One of my favorite novels so far. Honestly I've seen too many reincarnation novels that follows the same trope. Mc is reincarnated, mc becomes Op and the end. But this start is different bc mc can't actively hunt and get stronger they rely on other people so yeah its nice to see somthing new.
- TheOldLord10256Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0As of chapter 3 i can say that the writing quality is decent with great grammar and pacing for all of its, as of writing this review, 3 chapters. I enjoy the slight ever-present comedy and easy to follow system and explanations of in-universe items and creations.
Looking forward for more and even better chapters! - TVoidSRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Read the story pretty quickly, and had a fun time riding along and finding out how the character responded to all the events. For being an idle clicker story, this was surprisingly engaging, and definitely deserved a read.
I can't wait for the next chapter... Honestly I'd be happy to be sent to his Isekai with how the story goes so far. - Luke ScheffeRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5So, I've been enjoying this rather unique take on a system cultivation novel. While It is very much different from the norm, that is a large part of what makes it interesting. I've enjoyed reading the Author's thoughts on what cultivation would be like in the body of a a spirit vein. So, advanced review.
Style - The style is not overly uncommon for system cultivation novels, with fairly large amounts of random seeming exposition to fill things in.
Story - This story is definitely unique, though it feels like something that should have been written a long time ago. I've been enjoying it so far, and have a feeling that the plot will show up in the next couple of chapters.
Grammar - Not much to see here. No major grammar issues, but it's not exactly poetry either. Just regular old prose.
Characters - I'm currently unclear a lot on the motivations of the different characters, as I am still early in the book. I can say that, despite the suggestions of some of the commenters, arthur isn't the kind of person to commit suicide at the slightest setback. And I'm trying to be hopeful that we will soon learn aout the motivation of the goddess that cursed him, but that feels more like an end of deries type of question than anything. - luda305Royal Road★★★ 3.0If you strip away all the "nonsense" from a xianxia, what you're left with is one of those mobile idle clicker games.
This is that.
Bravo to the author for attempting what is undoubtedly a difficult premise. In part, that "nonsense" is what actually drive the story, with the power-scaling more of a framework for deciding progress and relative power. But this undoubtedly falls short for two primary reasons.
First, it's pretty boring. I know it's really difficult to make an idle clicker interesting, and there's an attempt here, but it's not quite there. C'est la vie.
Second, the writing is a bit uneven. The first two chapters in particular just seem chock-full of weirdness (word choice issues, plot holes, arbitrariness, fourth wall breaks, etc.). And while this dials back a bit, there's still at least one point per chapters where I'm absolutely baffled by something in the text, and it throws me out of the suspension of disbelief.
Related, but separate, despite this being essentially an idle clicker, the protagonist seems to be pretty bad at it, despite the rules being laid out for him. Admittedly, new rules seem to pop up with foreshadowing and, while not inconsistent, are at least not natural extensions of existing rules. - FDGKLRTCRoyal Road★★★ 2.5Honestly, it's not that bad even though the system is quite boring at times, furthermore the MC has no agency, nearly all of his choices are dictated by the system, which wouldn't be that bad but as the system is some kind of idle clicker i expected some good choices, such as a délicate balance between what he can spend to create per hour and how much energy he can regain but he does some fucking stupid choices that are actually those of a madman, such as upgrading capacity when he doesn't need it (doesn't have something that cost a lot nor can he stay at full capacity) instead of Qi regen for exemple.
In summary, story about a MC that has the min maxing skills of a fat goose on a sinking ship and almost as smart as one too - RouexRoyal Road★★ 1.5I tried to keep reading the story but the mc is really unlikable, not only passive but dumb and likes to whine and blame others for his decisions, the side characters are not interesting at all, they were introduced in order to give the mc a goal but their backgrounds, goals and reactions are lacking, I imagine that is because the author never planned to give them any importance but after seeing how boring and repetitive the story was getting, they rushed in giving them a background so the mc would have something else to do besides gathering points to evolve.
